  1. I love it! The best pitcher I ever saw live. What a competitor. It always amazed me that a guy with such a slight build could pitch with so much power. Hope to see him come back this year. I think he still has something left. If he can stay healthy.
  2. He can be the best player that you saw in both categories. BTW, I saw him play left field for the Pirates against the Phillies at the Vet in 1986, I believe.
  3. I've been thinking about all the big time players that I've seen over the years. Harmon Killebrew, Al Kaline, Willy Mays, Yaz, Mickey Mantel. The list goes on. I saw most of these guys play after their prime. I'm interested to hear what members have to say. Who is the best player you ever saw play (live, at a game), and on TV? I'm asking for two names, one from each category. Mine are: Ken Griffey Jr., live. Roberto Clemente, TV.
  4. NESN just showed the play Gardner made. I hope he is OK.
  5. Rain delay at 9:00. I hate these waits. I hope they don't call the game.
  6. Yeah, he has things that he has to improve on. I'm not going to try to make excuses for him, but he did not spend a lot of time in the minors. He continues to be a work in process. I think he'll figure it out. Unfortunately, he has to do it on the big stage in Boston.
  7. Hey Dustball! What's the haps?
  8. On a brighter note, Nick Green continues to play well. Of course I've jinxed him by saying so.
  9. It always seems (to me anyway) that players have career games against the Sox.
  10. He's pitching as if he is malnourished. You are close, swing by Fenway and give him a burrito.
  11. Lester has his suck going tonight. I think Masterson pitched last night. Can he go again tonight?
  12. Lester up over 50 pitches with 1 out in the second. Oye!
  13. Well this blows. 2-1.
  14. I'd like to see him sign with the Rays. It would be interesting so see him back in the AL East. The Rays need help that he may be able to provide.
  15. Agreed. There is absolutely no reason for the Sox to make a move at this point. Short stop seems to have stabilized, with Green playing the majority of the time. He's hitting in clutch situations and has not made too many defensive blunders of late. Ortiz seems to be heading in the right direction. He may or may not be the Papi of yesteryear but he has been productive of late. No urgency at DH, at least for now. Dice-K has been atrocious. He is the only performance issue on the staff. A log-jam at Starting Pitching is a "problem". The Dice contract makes the issue more difficult for the FO to deal with . I don't see him on the DL or in the pen. Bard will likely be sent back to Pawtucket when Smoltz is activated. Too bad.
  16. Bunganut, you clearly have virtues, brevity is not one of them. Never the less, you are a die-hard fan and I think we can all appreciate that. Wake has been a bargain during his Sox career. He's alternately fun and excruciatingly painful. Sort of like my ex-wife! I hope he gets to be an all-star his year, but I don't think it will happen.
  17. Oh s***! I can't stop laughing.
  18. Sox win. Not an exciting game. But a win. I'll take it . Yankees lost? Pissah!
  19. Paps making it interesting. f***!
  20. Tek's lucky he isn't hurt. That was awkward.
