The game thread is almost done. So I'll share a little story with you and anyone else that may care.
About (emphasis on that word) 25 years ago, I had a conversation with a friend who was a QA guy in Groton. Very smart guy. Mech. Engineer. He had spent his entire career there inspecting grain of metals used in the construction of submarines. He had Top Secret Clearance and the whole nine yards.
We were just sitting having a few beers outside our motel in Newark De.. We were there for the Nascar races in Dover. Anyways, he told me of a a guy named Clancey who was about to have a book published that revealed a lot of technology from the U.S. Sub program.
He said that somehow Clancey had access to stuff that was classified and that the book conveyed many facts and was, to a large degree, accurate.
The book was a work of fiction. But much of it was based on real events.
Naturally, I bought the book and saw the movie!
