  1. Got to love what we see tonight. During the losing streak I said that a danger was the Sox becoming immersed in a culture of losing. The same thing can happen with winning!!!!!! Keep it up boys!!!! GO SOX!!! P.S. I am sure Fred is enjoying the performance of his "boys". J/K
  2. Surprisingly very good. Hope you have an open bar buddy!
  3. Because Drew is a proven major league player and they needed to shore up their left side defense and offense with WMB going down. I love what Holt has brought to the team. I hope he keeps it up! Let's see how everyone feels about him a month from now or when he is hitting .220-230.
  4. I don't expect much from Ruby. I just would like to see 5+ innings and less than 5 runs. I hope the Sox can put up some numbers tonight. The bottom of the order is very weak.
  5. But there is no point to be proven. You want the Sox to keep X at SS because that is what you want. The idea that his development will be stunted is not relevant. The Sox need to win now too, not just "down the road". The Sox will be a better team NOW with Drew at SS and X at 3rd. It's simple. It does not matter if the Sox have a prospect at 3rd either. Just field the best team possible for this year. I'm sure that X will prosper wherever he plays. It's not as if he was sent down to single A to play 3rd.
  6. This is just a stupid statement. Keep banging your WAR drum. Maybe the Sox brass will hear.
  7. That was a fun game to watch. A lot of theater. Baseball is entertainment and this game was very entertaining. I think that the ump should have warned Price only when he hit Ortiz but I can see why he warned both teams. Given the history and especially what happened in Tampa last series, the ump was trying to keep the game from getting ugly and to maintain control. Unfortunately, when he failed to toss Price after hitting Carp he stoked the fire and lost control of the game. That was way stupid and the Sox have a right to be pissed. And then when Workman got tossed for throwing a pitch 3 feet behind a batter the ump compounded his stupidity. What a mess. Farrell had a right to be angry and upset. It was the umps fault that Farrell had to be tossed. In any case, it was riveting baseball drama. I really love games like this. Especially when the Sox prevail. Someone up thread made a comment about Workman being crap or something in his first start against Tampa. This is nonsense. Workman has looked pretty good to me. Certainly a better number 5 than Buch, and even a better 4 than Doubrant has been giving us ( overall ). I get a kick out of the media and fans that are just now discovering the heated rivalry between these two teams. This stuff has been happening for a long time. This is why I never miss a Sox / DEVIL Rays game.
  8. Ruby reminds me of a smaller Sabathia ( physically ). He looks like a tub of goo. Never the less, he be da mang today!!! GO SOX!!!!
  9. If Drew does start slowly, why would Farrell stay with him while knowing that this team needs all of the offense that it can get now? I seriously doubt that Farrell will play Drew at the expense of the team offense. If Holt stays hot then he has to play as much as possible. In addition to the SS platoon we have been hearing about, Holt can spell Pedroia now and then. In fact, I say start giving Pedroia time off sooner rather than later because I suspect that the wrist injury is lingering and as a consequence, his hitting ( especially power ) is diminished. There will be plenty of playing time for all concerned. As I said above, these things tend to work themselves out. There is no use wringing our hands over this matter now.
  10. I wonder what is happening with our big pick Renaudo? I thought that he was close to a sure thing. He has not sniffed the bigs yet, I believe. Just wondering.
  11. And another thing. As much as I like what Holt is doing NOW, it's odd to award him a permanent position based on his SSS when at the same time deriding Drew for his poor production in about the same sample from the 2013 post season. Especially when one looks at Drew's career numbers when not injured. I'm fully aware of Holt's experience as an infielder and I hope that he does get a chance to stick with the Sox as long as he continues to hit. Somehow, I believe that this will all work itself out. My suspicion is that WMB will remain in Pawtucket until he hits consistently or gets dealt.
  12. How can having another proven MLB player on the team be bad? I still don't get it.
  13. I like the left field idea a lot. I can see a player being slotted into one position because of his size or speed. But in this case, Holt is athletic enough to play the outfield so why not? They certainly need more production from the outfield. Too bad he is not right handed. Although if he hits both lefties and nighties who cares? I hope he keeps hitting and that he sticks.
  14. In a sense, yes. Obviously as he continues to perform well the perceived need for Drew is lessened and questioned. I've liked the kid since he came up last year. However, his performance is over a small sample size and to assume that he will continue to perform to his current level is risky. I keep saying this, the Sox are a better team with Drew on the roster. Now that Holt is performing unexpectedly well, the Sox have a "good" problem. I suspect that if Holt continues to perform this well that WMB will be the odd man out. I hate to give up on his projected power. But for one reason or another he has not done much with the bat for the last two seasons. How many chances he will now get will be largely determined by what Holt and Drew do at the plate. This will be interesting to watch.
  15. Where does Holt fit into your plans? As I see it, if he continues to play and hit well, WMB will have difficulty getting back to Boston. Holt will most likely have to play his way out of remaining with the Sox. Herrera will most likely stick because of positional versatility.
  16. Isn't Workman still up?
  17. The Tigers are not a perfect team. The AL is wide open as I see things.
  18. Finish off this inning Taz!
  19. Maybe I just did a poor job of saying what I felt.
  20. Now I'm confused. I think that both username and I agree. The Sox did not make an effort to keep Salty because they did not want him. How is my post ambiguous? I'm not getting defensive. I just don't understand what I said that is confusing.
