    Right. Add more BP help and that's it. Of course the Sox may be looking to put one of their AAA arms in the pen. I suspect that anyone who sees Shields as anything less than a legit #1 has not watched him pitch over the years. His recent performance in the playoff is what they are forming their opinion on. I have no problem with 5/120 for this guy. If anyone is a candidate to continue to pitch well into his mid and upper 30's it's him.

    Not sure why they have waited so long to sign Badenhop. They probably have multiple cheaper targets.

    Of course it is only December 13. As constituted the Sox are an also ran team. Only pink hats would believe that this team ( current roster ) can be in the hunt for a division title.

    Not many people well tell you this because not many people around Boston know ANYTHING about authentic Mexican food, but...... Boston has TWO, and ONLY TWO no mater what anyone else tries to tell you, genuine Mexican Restaurants. My friends have been running them both since 1977 and 1986, respectively. Eat "Mexican Food" anywhere else in Boston and you probably believe Taco Bell is Mexican. There are many "Mexican" places. They all suck pond water except two.

    Amen Dojji. Is there a team in MLB that actually counts on their back up catcher to produce runs? If so, they are the exception and they are lucky. I like Ross to come back on a one year deal. He's cheap, good defensively, runs into one occasionally, and has the resume to help young catchers evolve. Oh, and he fits in this locker room quite well.

    I am repelled by Henry. Part of the reason is that I have no use for very rich people. Especially those that have not gained their riches by making a legitimate contribution to mankind. Most everyone like Henry is a taker, not a giver. So yes Ted, they are leaches. Luchino repulses me as well, although for other reasons. I just see him as snot. Werner I have no strong opinion on one way or another. Another rich guy. I like your take on it Ted.

    Cechini won't be a center piece or headliner in any trade. He'll be one of the pieces that in total seem to make a fair trade.

    Yup. They held fast on Lester. I will not be surprised if they offer a mega-deal to Scherzer.

    lulz Shields would be nice. Although 4+ years is what it will take and 96-115 mil. Oye. Maybe the Sox don't buy a new #1 and wait for next off-season? "Rotation by Committee."

    Don't hold your breath on both or even one happening Fred. Maybe the Sox are not done trading for SP? I'm not in love with Hamels.

    Just read this rumor on ESPN: BREAKING NEWS OUT OF DETROIT. Sources close to GM Dave Dombrowski are reporting that within the day there will announcements of two major transactions. One, Max Scherzer is in the final stages of signing a 6 year $185 million extension. Two, the Tigers are VERY close to completing a blockbuster trade for Andrew McCutcheon from Pittburgh....wOW. Sources say the Tigers will send Nick Castellenos, Rajai Davis, Al Albuquerque, and stud pitching prospects Johnathan Crawford and Kevin Ziomek in exchange. If completed this transactions would certainly make the Tigers World Series favorites. Source say expect chatter to pick up around 1:00pm EST with announcements likely close to 3:00pm.

    Maybe it is lower than it could have been at some other time. But I believe that if Buch is seen as healthy that a bunch of people would want him. He's cheap, too.

    I think that this all is very "exciting". Certainly more exciting than the 2014 season!

    Yes. I did not mention him because I did not see him a a piece that the Sox would move.

    Yeah. Funny how the panic after loosing Lester has now subsided. I like what he has done to build a rotation so far.

    Interesting. Yesterday, sometime after the Wiley trade, Cherries was quoted as saying there would be no more moves until after this weekend. Now we see that Cespedes was moved for Porcello. I don't know what to believe!!! I do believe that if the Sox want any part of Shields that they will have to act fast and hit hard with a big offer.

    I say that the Sox will grab a #1 and call it a day. I can't see the Sox spending 5/120 or so to get Shields but anything can happen. I'm not in love with Hamels but I can see the Sox going that route. Hopefully without trading Betts, Swilhart and maybe Owens.

    Honestly, it's hard to tell. You live here too. The Media says so many things that are not necessarily true. I had heard that he refused to play RF when he got here. Just yesterday I was reading that Farrell had said that that was not the case. That Cespedes had merely said that he had only played LF and CF in the majors. Anything for a headline, I guess. Still, he did say that he will go to free agency and did not want to discuss an extension. That says to me that he does not want to be here so F him. Also, he is overrated except for his power which all teams need.

    I hope that the Sox can somehow land Shields. I bet 5/120 would do it. Not very comfortable with having him pitch years 4 and 5 at his elevated age but hey, this is what the pitching situation has developed into.

    Good post. I believe this is what Cherries meant when he said that there are multiple ways to build a rotation. I'm still hoping for a #1. Not necessarily and Ace but as you said, a Stopper. I doubt that the Sox will get a #2 now if they get a #1. Maybe they can move Buch????
