  1. I think that the Sox can win 100 too. IF....
  2. This is clearly the move that will put the Sox over the top!
  3. "Red Sox send 2014 PawSox Most Valuable Pitcher Anthony Ranaudo to Rangers for LHP Robbie Ross, Jr." http://www.milb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20150127&content_id=107648386&fext=.jsp&vkey=news_t533&sid=t533
  4. Yeah. She should work at Fox News.
  5. No. She is bright, though. She is my doghouse for her handling of the Patriots hategate story.
  6. And a troll!
  7. I'm not sure either. I am very good friends with him and he is one of the brightest people I know. And I have four PhD, a Pew Fellow, two Phi Beta Kappa, and two geniuses in my family. Maybe he is a villain because he he has a low threshold for stupidity and ignorance? Sometimes he can be insulting to others. Sometimes he is justified in doing so. Other times, maybe not. Most people like him. That I do know. He is great with kids. My Daughter loves him.
  8. I said Yawn because for several pages people were debating what I see as a moot point and getting nowhere with it. Like stats and clutch, this topic has been beat to death on Talksox. So yawn.
  9. I used to respect Felger. About ten years ago when he was a Patriots beat writer for the Herald. I paper, by the way, that I have never respected. Now he is just a major attention whore. Mazz has never had my respect at all. I can't even listen to him between his stupid rants and that obnoxious whiny voice of his. Ugh.
  10. I remember that. I was shocked to read it at the time.
  11. Or the person that does not know how to interpret the stats is just dumb. After all, most news media outlets reported that game balls were 1-2 pounds light. When, in fact, they were 1-2 psi lower in pressure. I never underestimate the ignorance and stupidity of people.
  12. And I suggested that even with the use of stats one could come to the wrong conclusion!!!!
  13. Okay. I see that we have one of the obligatory biannual Stats vs. observation discussion out of the way. Can we now discuss Clutch?
  14. Never saw him play live and when I saw him on tv it was near the end of his career. Baseball needs more like him now. One of the greats.
  15. Not that this topic deserve much more discussion. Was Koji ever used as a closer prior to coming to the Sox? His numbers do look good. There was little luck involved. He brought the stuff to shut batters down. I remember Tazawa was used before Koji. That did not last long. I'm glad.
  16. I agree with you. However, even armed with legitimate stats some people come to the wrong conclusion and spout an opinion that is just not correct. I see that a lot.
  17. GOOD!!! And you seemed to have missed my point. And, access to stats does not assure than anyone's opinion will be accurate or valid.
  18. No disputing that Pedroia is the hart and soul of the team. But I think that trading him for a big arm would be justified and eventually understood and probably embraced by most fans if the arm panned out and the Sox flourished. I disagree that Pedroia is in decline. His numbers are down over the past three years, true. I think that two years with successive hand injuries has diminished his ability to drive the ball. I hope that with good health this spring that he will perform closer to the previous norms.
  19. How did you arrive at the idea that Castillo is five tool? Total news to me.
  20. A fan can justify these long expensive contract in any wish they would like. The plain fact is that they are never worth it. Oh but "it's not my money. The rich owners can afford it!"
  21. Has this really happened? Did the Sox announce that they could not afford top tier pitching??? I do agree that the two splash signings were a surprise given that pitching had to be seen as the number one need after the 2014 deadline. I have not given up hope that the Sox will make a move. I will scratch my head if they don't.
  22. Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!1!!1!!! You will be soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo entertained this coming May!!!!
