  1. Just remember, it's only ST (unless the guy is performing poorly, apparently).
  2. I'm not going to belabor the point as both you and I are on the same page as to what his ceiling is. Just hope he figures it out this year and can have a realistic chance of being in the rotation in April 2014 along with Webster.
  3. Just think his upside is higher than an old Overbay.
  4. And yet YOU keep using Farrell demoting him as an excuse for his performance. Look, I know you projected him as the 4th starter this year, but maybe he's just not ready and needs more time? It's not a big deal if he's not ready.
  5. I'd go: Overbay, Carp, then Gomez as a last resort. Can Carp be sent to AAA without being put through waivers?
  6. But you keep bringing it up as if it were a factor. It's one thing to mention it offhandedly, it's another to bring it up multiple times.
  7. "After Farrell made those comments, De La Rosa plunged. Not saying it's what caused his plunge, I'm just saying that it's an interesting order of events." No, that is completely what you're saying...
  8. In the end though, outside sources like Keith Law think Webster and Rubby are the 2 best arms in the Sox minor leagues. Clearly, these guys weren't just filler or the result of a hype machine.
  9. Not nearly as well as the Yanks though.
  10. The Dodgers thought very highly of Rubby, didn't want to include him in numerous deals at the deadline and believed he was a future big league starter. http://articles.latimes.com/2011/may/24/sports/la-sp-0525-dodgers-fyi-20110525
  11. Webster and Rubby have been top 100 prospects. Sands was more of the filler type (fringe prospect).

    Theo Epstein

He was ok. Would get infatuated with certain guys (Lugo, Salty). At the end of the day, he just couldn't say no to LL. Rather than building up a winner, he built a team of big names.
  13. They gave up the prospects for AGon, the player they valued the most (big name, Mexican heritage, from SoCal).
  14. If he can return to form, it'd be such a big help to this team. "If" he and Buchholz could pitch to their potential and the others don't fall apart, this team could indeed play meaningful games in September.
  15. Yeah, he's a 2nd half reliever call up at best as I'd be wary of increasing his innings too much.
  16. Yeah, I wanted open competition for SS and RF. Salty should have been traded and Lavs should catch 50% of the games. In 2014, a SP slot should be open for Webster/Rubby/Barnes/whoever is most ready. I don't think any of them are ready right now. If Webster pitches well in AAA, I'd bring him up in the 2nd half of this year.
  17. Who was "right" about 2012? No one on here. No one said they'd win 69 games. The lowest number of projected wins was 82 by Muggah. Now who was "exactly" right on here? Not a700, SBF, iortiz. No one. If memory serves me right, SBF scurried off during last season as well.
  18. Yeah, it totally "kills them" and "ruins their day" so much that they are quick to use the I Told You So card. If people want to be negative fans, it's fine by me. Just don't call others out for being ballwashers, because they don't agree with the negativity 100% of the time. You liked the Victorino signing? Ballwasher. You think the prospects that I don't like are good? Ballwasher. You think the team could win 88 games and be in contention? Ballwasher. You don't like my made up commentary? Ballwasher.
  19. You don't know what you are talking about. He watched way more games of Rubby than we did!!! Stats be damned!
  20. And just after you posted this, Fred posts his 5 years of failure nonsense. So, there you go. Also, if all you want is meaningful games in September, you should have been fine with 09, 10 and 11, but you weren't.
  21. Regular bullpen guy: 13 games, 10 games started. Stop making stuff up please.
  22. Pre 2004: if they win once, I'll die happy Now: they must win every year!
  23. In real, the health Ortiz was a huge question mark and the FO chose to sign him because he's a likable guy and the Sox were miserable last year. To me, the contract was just a "thanks for the memories, do some more commercials, so that when Ells is gone in 2014 the pink hats will at least know one guy on the team." Since the Sox aren't going to be a WS contender this year or next, I can't be upset about him being injured.
  24. Yes, let's be reality.
