  1. Even if Smoak and Saunders turn to be stars. Montero is the 2nd best position prospect in baseball behind Trout. They have absolutely no depth at catcher. They'll also be interested in an a couple of our top-100 pitching prospects.
  2. Bounceback from Burnett, 2nd full year of Hughes and a lockdown pen will compensate that. You would have to be a freakin' homer to not accept that the Yankees have improved their team a little.
  3. If Andy comes back now, we'll be a 95+wins again.
  4. More likely the A's will win the division than the WC.
  5. Two Red Sox fans arguing about Carl Pavano and the Yankees. AWESOME.
  6. He's an upgrade over Mitre for sure. But I doubt the Yanks are interested.
  7. Seems like the Yankees are really close to signing Andruw Jones. Hughes got 2.7m today and Joba got 1.4m to avoid arbitration. The hunt for a 4th starter continues as the Yankees are looking at Freedy Garcia (eek).
  8. 12m? I would have non-tendered him and throw the money at Fuentes.
  9. Granderson made adjustments in the 2nd half, and he can implement that over the course of a full season. He'll definitely hit 35 bombs and OPS .900. Martin is an upgrade offensively and defensively than Cervelli. Cervelli's numbers are inflated by a monster April and September, don't be fooled.
  10. I don't think there's a pitcher like that in the trade market right now. Everyone's locked and signed. Even Floyd won't be traded now, unless Peavy is healthy or the ChiSox decide to put Chris Sale in the rotation.
  11. Have two elite closers pitching the 8th and 9th inning. I like 7 innings games. But the opt out clauses concerns me, if he opts out after the first year, we get no value out of him, losing a first rounder on. 1 year rental for a set up guy? Not worth it.
  12. With a crowded closer market next offseason, why would Soriano opt out from making 11.67m a year? Maybe Boras is thinking he's the best closer after Paps and wants to renegotiate with Yankees once Rivera retires.
  13. Rauch could be a poor man's Kerry Wood. I approve.
  14. The lineup according to a NESN article that predicts the 2011 Red Sox would become the greatest team in major league history over the 1927 Yankees. Jacoby Ellsbury, CF Dustin Pedroia, 2B Carl Crawford, LF Adrian Gonzalez, 1B Kevin Youkilis, 3B David Ortiz, DH J.D. Drew, RF Jarrod Saltalamacchia, C Marco Scutaro/Jed Lowrie, SS I like the lineup a lot, but the article is full of BS.
  15. Limited playing time in August and September, and he suddenly became Tulo.
  16. I'd rather sign Rafael Soriano.
  17. Fuentes has a noticeable platoon split, but he doesn't fits the definition of LOOGY. A 4m AAV for a guy that can close is a bargain.
  18. The Yankees already have a full time DH and three more than capable OFs. Pass.
  19. Santana was a Top 5-10 prospect in baseball. The gap between Santana and Marson is HUGE, compared to the small gap between Lowrie and Scutaro. Terrible comparison.
  20. I don't see any reasonable argument to have Lowrie over Scutaro at SS. Scutaro should put better numbers batting 9th. Lowrie played for like two months. Yet the discussion deserves 12 pages.
