  1. Cliff Lee vs the Sox: 4.06 ERA, 1.32 WHIP, .732 OPS against. However, these are career numbers, and he's really owned the Sox since his breakthrough season. With the lineup being so left-handed now, he'd probably own the Sox even more. Adrian Gonzales doesn't seem to care though, hitting .700 (7 for 10) with three doubles and a HR vs Lee. Roy Halladay vs the Sox: 4.39 ERA, 1.28 WHIP, .718 OPS against. The Sox have always hit Halladay relatively well, but we all know what the dude is capable of. All in all, not a pair i'd be happy to compete against, but i'm pretty sure Lester (who's in their "Ace level" right now) and a healthy Beckett, Bucholz or Lackey could rise up to the occasion and give these guys a run for their money.
  2. When comparing lineups, i believe you should do it on a position-by-position basis: Howard Utley > Phillips. Ruiz > Hernandez. Rollins > Cabrera. Polanco Ibanez > Gomes Victorino > Stubbs Brown The way i see it, the Phillies have the advantage in five out of the eight offensive positions, and in the ones they don't have the advantage, it's close with the exception of 3B. I list Ruiz as a no-doubter when compared to Hernandez because of his superiority in both components of OPS. I think you're selling the Phillies lineup short here. And if they can get a decent OF, they're right back in the conversation for best NL lineup.
  3. Waiting for Jacko to spin this around....
  4. Y228, being the only unbiased Yankee fan i know, let me ask you the following question: As presently constructed, which team is superior, Sox or Yankees?
  5. GIve me three NL lineups better than the Phillies top to bottom as presently constructed.
  6. http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash2/hs597.ash2/154920_10150099453525190_130348850189_7716413_6510868_n.jpg Lol!
  7. You need to think about it from a position-by-position perspective. Their infield is great offensively. Howard, Utley, Ruiz and Rollins are all above average at their position, while Polanco is right around average for a 3B. Victorino had a down year fueled by injuries, but he's a good bet to hit .280, get on base at a .350 clip, hit more than 50 XBH and steal 30 bases on a healthy year. That's great production out of CF.
  8. E1, i'm as high on Buch as anybody else, but come on. Greinke has better stuff.
  9. I disagree on the offense. Their core 6: Ruiz, Howard, Rollins, Polanco, Utley, Victorino is really really good. They'll miss the thump that Werth brought to the table, but their offense is still top notch by NL standards. And who knows, maybe they get a good OF.
  10. Carl Pavano.
  11. Boston Red Sox over Philadelphia Phillies in 6 games, 2011 World Series prediction. I'm going to start translating your posts, so all of the members of the site can understand them (when i can understand them myself of course).
  12. Kalamazoo, Michigan. As close to the old "Land where milk comes in bags" as i can possibly be.
  13. f*** yeah it's happening! You doing a keg-stand rsr?
  14. Fair enough. He was clearly the best pitcher in the 2009 playoffs, much to Jacko's dismay, who spent the whole ofpostseason pimping Sabathia as superior to Lee. Lee has obviously been the better pitcher for the past three years, and last two years in the playoffs, but oh well.
  15. Smoltz/Glavine/Maddux/Neagle. But i digress. Now if Lee leaves all that money to sign with Philly, Amaro Jr should be entitled to getting his penis sucked by every Phillies fan on the planet. Jesus.
  16. Martin hits right handed. He's not a switchie.
  17. I hate Cliff Lee. He's being disrespectful and downright mean by taking his time to think things through on a decision that will affect him and his family for quite possibly the next seven years. It's not like he has a ton of factors to consider. Douche.
  18. Yup, moving screen indeed. You can conclude that the Sox have upgraded their lineup, and don't take a hit anywhere. No matter how some try to spin it.
  19. Well ok, whatever you say. I'm sorry you don't like it when i try to maintain a level of "reality" when making my arguments. Anyways, that doesn't touch on my original point (heh) which is the "moving screen" strategy that you, Jacko and Doiji are so adept at using. So next time one of your points gets rebuked and you switch to save face, if the phrase "Moving screen" comes up it means you're doing it again. Oh, and it's not the same to include a player in a trade to lower another player's contract value than trading that player to fill a need and clearing actual payroll space. It's simply not that difficult to comprehend.
  20. It was the first image that came up, but apparently it wasn't the first the first one that came up for you, and you wasted three minutes of your life trying to prove i wasted three minutes looking it up. Then again, you do enjoy practicing the art of "trolling" so you wouldn't consider that wasted time now would you?
  21. .823 career OPS in the minors while exhibiting around average D for a catcher. I'm sorry, but should i bring a shovel? Because that's a lot of crap you're spewing.
