Because I'm still banking on Buchholz to be the guy by the end of the year and a below average guy is easier to get out of the way once Buchholz is ready -- like Tavarez and Lester.

Honestly, I doubt it. Masterson might be expendable, but I really doubt Lowrie is going anywhere unless we're prepared to go with Argenis Diaz right out of Spring Training. I suppose they could go back to Lugo and Cora until Diaz/Navarro make it, but that's counting your chickens before they hatch, especially on Navarro.

I didn't mean specifically Tomko. Just a below average guy Buchholz could claim a job from if he pitches well. Bringing back Byrd is more what I have in mind actually.
