  1. Good luck getting the Twins to take on Lowell's salary. Oh, and please, please, PLEASE do not block Lars Anderson with Teixeira's mammoth contract! We've already got a 1B who's VERY close and poised to be a superstar -- on a lot of teams he'd be in the big leagues right now and probably be average to above average. Given this, why go for Teixeira?
  2. This was a loss with honor of a battle of equals. Both teams can be proud of this series.
  3. My philosophy is that no team that makes it out of the first round of the playoffs has any call to be disappointed beyond the result of games played (IE, to consider their season anything but a 100% success). This game hurt, but I'm sticking to that.
  4. Captain Mike Lowell. Could definitely see it happening.
  5. This team is going to be great in 2010, lemme tell ya. Along with whatever comes along from the free agent market, we've got Lars Anderson coming up and we'll be right in the middle of the peaks of Dustin Pedroia, Kevin Youkilis, Jed Lowrie, Jacoby Ellsbury, Jonathan Papelbon, Justin Masterson and maybe, just maybe, Delcarmen. That, and we've got Buchholz, Bowden, maybe Johnson and Bard, maybe a few other guys to find spots for on the pitching side too.
  6. Ortiz and Wakefield deserve no part of that rant. I do think that the end of this contract is the end of David Ortiz in Boston, but he's more than earned his money this year. As for Wakefield, what do you expect of a guy whose claim to fame is that he pitches a lot of average innings?
  7. I couldn't stand 3 more years of this. I really, really couldn't. Just let the man go and solve the catcher question some other way. If Tek comes back I want it to be clear that he is the BACKUP catcher, but he's a piss-poor backup catcher because he can't/won't/shouldn't handle one of the pitchers gumming up the situational stuff.
  8. All we did was make Tampa's victory sweeter. *sigh*
  9. Let's keep it to one thread. It might not be 100% fair but Varitek gets a lot of blame for the fail that happened in Game 7. He was up in multiple key situations, including top 9 representing the tying run, and he utterly failed to look like a major league hitter. Could have, and should have won this game, but the Rays were the ones who got the breaks and did all the little things right.
  10. THey earned it. We made 'em earn it. Still hurts.
  11. TERRY SO HELP ME IF YOU LET CORA BAT HERE I WILL HUNT YOU DOWN MYSELF!!!
  12. If he strikes out or GIDP's? Very possibly.
  13. Jed "I rock from the right side" Lowrie. Jed to 3B, Youk to 1B. EDIT: NOT a strike.
  14. PINCH HIT FOR KOTSAY OMG!!!! AAARRRGGGHHH! 9TH INNING OF GAME SEVEN!!!
  15. Vtek will be batting from the right side. Lowrie PH's for Kotsay we can line up 3 righties against Price. That's a fighting chance I guess. (if you want to line up theD for a Lowrie switch for Kotsay in the event of a tie, move Jed to third and Youk to first)
  16. Well, whatever happens it won't be Okajima's fault.
  17. What a wretched job by the offense. We've been stradning a billion baserunners a game all year, not surprising that it looks like it's going to keep us out of the World Series.
  18. Just get the game to Youkilis. Ellsbury pinch runs there's a good chance it's 3-2 because he could have gotten to third on the Crisp single and scored on Pedroia's flyout.
  19. Someone's rattled. PLEASE PAPI! PLEASE MAKE SOMETHING HAPPEN HERE!
  20. It's up to Ortiz to catch up with the lefty
