  1. I very much doubt it. Beckett is great when he's on, but everyone knows that the book on Beckett is that he's inconsistent and gets his mechanics out of order pretty easily. As he gets older that is unlikely to improve and teams know it. AJ Burnett money is more likely. Burnett himself is overpaid, but that same contract would work out for Beckett.
  2. Wishful thinking on your part Jacko. If Pedro Martinez could learn to share his toys when Schill came along I'm pretty sure that Lackey and Beckett can coexist. Besides, the Sox let Beckett walk only if his demands are incredibly unreasonable because we know who'd sign him.
  3. My first guess would be the Cubs. But I wouldn't be too surprised if he made a triumphant return to Philadelphia. They've been smarting for late inning help.
  4. I think a lot of this is just year to year variation. Youks for his career is an above average 3B, and NWIH Ellsbury is actually that bad defensively
  5. Martelol Anyone remember being nervous when the Yankees acquired this guy?
  6. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20090911&content_id=6909526&vkey=news_bos&fext=.jsp&c_id=bos Was really surprised to learn that in Jordan's one baseball season, his manager was none other than Tito.
  7. Wherever Wagner goes his team is more likely to win a ring
  8. Pettitte did the same for the Yankees in 1997 and arguably in 2002. He typically performed at a certain level but occasionally had these stretches of dominance.
  9. Not hard to dismiss that as a fluke year when you look at the performances around it.
  10. How about Andy Pettitte? 2006 for the Astros he's 14-13 with a 4.20 ERA, 2007 for the Yankees he's 15-9 with a 4.05 ERA You kinda have to cherry pick around Pettitte's 2005 performance though
  11. Anyway, I think we're all hoping that the answer next year is Lowrie making the whole thing irrelevant.
  12. Take this for exactly what it's worth Career UZR/150 at SS Alex Gonzalez 6.3 Nick Green 8.1
  13. I'm crushed. Really.
  14. At the moment, so are you. There was absolutely no reason for you to decide to hijack this thread with another of your anti-Dojji hissy fits.
  15. Given our disastrous stretch of luck with shortstops I'll take a guy who can at least defend. I'd rather go with JJ Hardy than Alex Gonzalez but the truth is we could do a lot worse.
  16. 9 strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings, only 2 hits allowed, a 1.35 ERA, is there anything this guy has done in a Red Sox uniform that hasn't been ridiculously dominant?
  17. I was saying that in response to a guy who said he wanted Mueller back. Well, that and it's just the truth.

  19. Lowell's better. No, seriously. Mueller was a very good 3B but even counting his bad defensive year this year, Lowell has been a better 3b for us over the time we've had him..
  20. I can live with Glovey McNoodlebat as long as he can occasionally provide something at the dish and the defense is good enough. Gonzo has as good a chance as anyone of bein tha guy. That said, definitely much rather go after someone who can do both.
