  1. I should hope not.
  2. NESN: Krejci will not play Game 4.
  3. Rumor: Partially separated shoulder. Still no link. Pretty sure Kessel played with worse last year.
  4. You do that. I never said my instincts were any good.
  5. Rumor: It's Krejci's shoulder. That's all so far. That doesn't sound like good news.
  6. Krejci is vital. I think we'll all be waiting nervously until we hear confirmation that he's fine and they just had him out for precautionary reasons because it wasn't critical that he return. So do we start Thomas so that he's the one who deals with all the punk antics of a dirty team on the brink? Or do we trust guys like Chara and Boychuk not to stand for any nonsense?
  7. Thank God. I'd love to be dead wrong about this guy. Every instinct I have tells me that this doesn't change anything but dangit, I want to hope!`
  8. That's really not a horrible idea at this point. Getting one down would be a huge boost to his confidence.
  9. Last year I was one of Papi's biggest defenders. He's actually come out of the gate even worse this year -- last year at least he was hitting a few singles, the problem was he wasn't HR'ing. This year he isn't even making half decent contact.
  10. Who cares what you think?
  11. In 3-4 years? Sure, they definitely will be. I hope the Bruins faithful surprise me by being faithful through a few hiccups early in their pro careers. Because hiccups will happen
  12. There is no point in him sitting on the bench. None. He is either in the game and hitting or he is completely and utterly useless.
  13. Read. I said call up Nava to play defense in left field and switch Hermida to DH. Not to replace Ortiz' bat. Papi to the DL is a move I could stomach too, if something's materially wrong that they think they can fix. But what they're doing now, it's painfully obvious it's not working.
  14. Pedroia. I don't think I should need to explain.
  15. Honestly I think Rhet's right, or at least his argument has basis in facts, in both areas. I think though that he's overblowing the significance of Theo's mistakes. The only clear mistake on the roster right now is the Lowell contract. Everyone else has at least an even chance to earn their money, and even with Ortiz you excuse the money because of how crucial he was to our World Series title in 2007, which was during the life of that contract. Maybe you add Varitek's deal to the list but only because it cost us Kottaras, and that's not really that much of a loss, a productive Milwaukee SSS notwithstanding.
  16. Did you see the look on his face when he was walking back to the dugout after that bases loaded GIDP? That is a defeated man.
  17. that does seem to be the crux. And it's a danged shame. Big guy needs to hang 'em up. He's done. DFA him and call up Daniel Nava to play left field until Ellsbury gets back, and run a Hermida-Lowell platoon out of DH. Nava's earned the chance, he's shown he can hit a little at AAA, he's hit at every other level he's played, and he's for sure a better defender in left than Hermida. Time to see what he can do at the big league level IMHO. I'm pretty confident he'll hit more than Ortiz would going forward -- Big Papi doesn't even look like he's going to the plate thinking he's going to get a hit anymore.
  18. Hermiada-Lowell platoon at DH. Now. Please.
  19. Seriously, why the heck was Ortiz even swinging there???????? LET HIM WALK YOU FFS!
  20. As fail as you could possibly fail big guy.
  21. Please Papi, at least get only yourself out. A GIDP would be murder. Just murder.
  22. Rather give up Kalish than Reddick. The Nats' love of Nyjer Morgan suggests they'd likely be amenable to the switch.
  23. So what do you offer for a Dunn? Bowden and Rizzo?
  24. I expect the Nats to try to extend Dunn. He's part of the improving team, is not particularly old, can play a couple of positions, and the Nats may have money to spend as they continue to improve their on-field product. I don't know if they see him as part of their long-term core but I expect them to at least see him as a very competent hole-filler until they get guys who can fill in at LF and 1B better than Dunn could do either.
