  1. For a first start, he didn't suck. He didn't exactly get a ton of help from the D but still put himself in line for a win. All things considered I think he's done his stock more good than harm tonight.
  2. Yes well, that's the NBA's WWF-style refereeing for you.
  3. Never understood the allure of lurking. Jump right in, even if it means putting your foot squarely in it, and if you make a fool of yourself at least you're learning something.
  4. I've been kind of afraid to climb fully onto the Nava bandwagon because of some of the snarkmasters in the forum, but I might just have to throw caution to the wind if he's going to keep hitting like this. Every now and again, something just plain works well. I still expect his end-of-year average to be closer to .280 than the .444 he's rocking now but he sure has been a pleasant surprise.
  5. For the record: the NBA will never regain the prominence it had in the Jordan era while every losing team can legitimately and fairly talk about referee fairness issues.
  6. I think maybe it's time to blow it up anyway. If you're lucky you squeeze one, maybe two playoff years out of this team, but the pieces you could get for some of the players would help start the next wave.
  7. Meh. The Celtics took a better team to the absolute limit. You can see exactly how the Celtics should have won it, which IMHO is part of the reason there isn't a ton of shame to what happened. That's just MHO, but honestly? Celtics have a lot to be proud of. In the end, it all amounts to sophistry anyway of course -- the Lakers win the NBA Championship. BUT... there's a lot the Celtics can feel good about too. They certainly did put up a fight in the late minutes. And they weren't even supposed to be here. So... *sigh* I'm getting entirely too familiar with this kind of argument. Ahh well. Time to talk about how we rebuild the team for next year.
  8. At least they didn't just lie down and die.
  9. Whatcha think guys, 4 points with 11 seconds to go.
  10. If they've got the ball they have to hold their noses and give the ball to Ray. They just have to.
  11. That's an unreasonable request under the circumstances. Allen isn't here to play defense. He's here to play defense, shoot threes, shoot jumpers and be a guy you can go to with short time on the clock to get a critical point. One out of 4 is not good. And in Game 7? I'm sorry, I'm usually first in line to defend a guy when he has a bad game, but Allen was too integral a part of the Celtics' plan to "give him a break" when he comes up this short at such a critical time.
  12. Well, Ray Allen could always hit a game winner, I suppose. Oh wait.
  13. OK well, in that case I certainly can deal with taking a better team to 7 in the NBA finals and having a chance to finish them off. If the Lakers ARE the better team, there's a lot less shame IMHO. Doesn't make this pleasant, but it does make it something you can shrug off after you're done with the grief process.
  14. Ahh then they actually scored since I posted.
  15. OK question guys, in all seriousness. They had the lead about halfway through the third. Is this an epic choke or were are we just beaten by a better team?
  16. And so ends probably the last hurrah of these Celtics for a good long time.
  17. I... I think that's game. Not so much for the lead but for the way it happened. The Celtics are starting to run scared.
  18. Ray is really competing for playoff goat.
  19. Oh please let that be Allen waking up.
  20. Can't let the Lakers tie. If they tie, they won't look back for the rest of the game.
  21. Come on guys, get some distance.
