  1. Speaking of recurring Red sox targets what do you guys think about possibly targeting Wade Miley of the Brewers? The Crew have some gaping holes in their lineup and are one of the few teams with something of a glut of decent pitching. this seems to me like a rare situation where a couple contenders can get something done that makes sense for both of them. Miley seems to be getting it done, he's pitched here before, and his contract isn't a bankbuster.
  2. We are definitely playoff contenders. I look at Houston and Toronto and see teams we can definitely compete with, especially as some of our young dynamos start maturing. I still wouldn't go crazy buying talent, but if a good deal is out there, I'd be happy to see Bloom pull the trigger.
  3. We win, everyone else loses. Great day. Night!
  4. I think you kinda have to let Kutter pitch his way out of the rotation. Good problem to have. Especially if we don't have to lean on Pivetta to be a stealth starter and can hold him in reserve if a starter has a rough outing.
  5. Ironically, Blackburn has actually grown on me. Kotsay left him in too long. If Blackburn had left the game at the end of the 5th it would have been a respectable performacne for a bottom of the rotation guy -- 5 IP, 2 ER, 2BB, 3K. Against a lineup that powerful, you take that from a 4-5 starter.
  6. First star: Nick Pivetta, 6IP, Oh 0ER, 13K Second Star: Connor Wong: 3-4, 2B, 3RBI Third Star: Brennan Bernardino, 2IP, 1H, 0ER, 2k
  7. Glad he's making the most of his chances now! He's been rock solid for us
  8. Lovely day to make undisputed gains.
  9. Bernardino was apparently a waiver claim from Seattle. NO ONE else wanted him, which is wild. Quality left like that, and no one wanted him?
  10. Breaking a long standing record is worth breaking out into a thread for its own recognition. He just out the entire bullpen on his back and made a bullpen game into a nonproblem.
  11. Bernardino did a great job.
  12. Almost the entire rest of the bullpen has had 2 days rest. I think we'll be OK.
  13. Lost in all of the talk about Pivetta, Connor Wong has quietly had a hell of a game.
  14. I don't see any particular reason to be overwhelmingly polite with Faria lol
  15. Junktime guy to seal the deal? (please no Faria!)
  16. May be hitting the wall. even if e lets up a run or 2 here, that's a hell of an outing.
  17. There it is! He wants more. I thought he'd done enough when he got through 5. Are they gonna ask him to finish?
  18. Wait, Pivetta isn't back out there is he? Gameday isn't showing a replacement yet.
  19. Maybe the A's are interested in Kavadas. He's the sort of guy Billy Beane would like.
  20. Legit think it takes some pressure off him. Red Sox get some runs early and Pivetta comes in playing with house money. Way less stressful. Maybe it's what he needs.
  21. We should consider what value Pivetta might have to another team
  22. You know if Pivetta is going to do this, go ahead and have a courtesy "starter" and just let him go hogwild. If he's more comfortable pitching 4-5 innings of relief, and you can get this Nick Pivetta out of him? Then go for it.
  23. Can we NOT throw at the opposing team's best player please? Show some class Oakland!
