  1. Of what, not making it to the ALCS? Oh, imagine the thought! That's unfortunate.
  2. First, oh the horror. Second, I said not playoff contenders. They've been contenders the past two years.
  3. We have. About as far from a safe bet in this league as you'll find. For this season only, if that. If Orlando holds on to Dwight for the year, Celtics won't even have home court in the playoffs. And they never will with this cast of characters. Contention, and I use that term loosely, ends after this season, unless Ainge is able to turn cat piss into lemonade. Cash out and get what you can for Rondo, Pierce, and Ray. The latter two could probably be dealt the following year to contenders who need help down the stretch, hopefully for 1st rounders.
  4. Celtics keep Rondo and they'll be back to their 90s-2006 era. I thought it was everyone's understanding that we were back to being terrible once this era was over. Rondo is not a building block. The makeup of these Celtics teams have hidden his many weaknesses. Try to make him the man on a post-big 3 Celtics team and he basically becomes T.J. Ford. Or a present day Andre Miller. And you won't get dick back for him in a trade. I'd much rather blow it up and take my chances in what looks like a strong 2013 draft than have Rondo making us just good enough for #9 picks every year. Hopefully we could deal Pierce midway through that season to some team who needs a SF for the stretch run and get another 1st rounder.
  5. Celtics need to blow it up after this season. Trade Rondo too before his stock plummets on a crappy team and you won't be able to get anything back for him.
  6. Perfect example of why I prefer to distance myself from most Red Sox fans.
  7. Looks like Paul's going to the Clippers I'm not gonna say it's a bad trade for the Clippers, but they overpaid. Gordon + Minny's pick is too much. Okafor's not going back to LA for Kaman, so the Hornets don't lose the back end of that contract, which would have been very valuable given the current state of that franchise. They're also keeping Bledsoe, who's now stuck behind Paul, Billups, and Mo Williams, so he'll have to be shopped to other teams on potential alone now. All in all feels pretty mismanaged by the Clippers.
  8. So the teams kept talking, but the Lakers pulled out and traded Odom to Dallas for a trade exception and draft picks, which could help them land Howard. Maybe the Clippers pounce. They definitely have the assets. They can pony up Eric Gordon, Mo Williams (for salary purposes), that Aminu guy, and throw in Chris Kaman for Emeka Okafor. Basically the same AAV, except Kaman expires this year while Okafor still has three years left. That should plenty to satisfy David Stern, even without draft picks, which they could use in combination with Eric Bledsoe to go get someone else later. Bad from a Celtics perspective though, Chris Paul on the Clippers likely cripples the value of the first round pick Boston has from them courtesy of the Perkins trade.
  9. Jermaine O'Neal can actually play low post defense. West cannot do that or rebound, and is going to be dead weight in a year once the big 3 are completely done (if that's even a year away). Hell even an injured O'Neal is better than Glen Davis taken to the next extreme. Latest is this is on hold. The CP3 to the Lakers deal is off for good. Ideally, this West thing would get scrapped, and the Celtics would trade Rondo + whatever for Paul. If he doesn't re-sign, oh well. We were going to be terrible anyway once the big 3 sunk. At least this way we wouldn't have Rondo's dead weight contract and plummeting stock making us just good enough to get the #9 pick every year. If Paul does re-sign, great. You have a star, the worst of the rebuilding is already over, and the Celtics have the resources to surround Paul with more than New Orleans could.
  10. West sucks. His only means of scoring is knocking down 18 footers. He can't defend. Two years ago he only got 7.4 RPG in 36.4 MPG, and only did slightly better than that last season. That's basically the rebounding rate Jermaine O'Neal was going at last year. Not good.
  11. http://espn.go.com/boston/nba/story/_/id/7337518/boston-celtics-deal-new-orleans-hornets-david-west-report-says Is Danny Ainge retarded? I think Danny Ainge is retarded. Seriously, we just rid ourselves of the useless Glen Davis, now we're gonna go sign his slimmed-down twin brother?
  12. And amazingly, got something more valuable than a sweaty pair of game shorts in return. http://espn.go.com/boston/nba/story/_/id/7336124/agent-boston-celtics-deal-glen-davis-orlando-magic-brandon-bass
  13. Any and all owners who protested should have a smoldering iron shoved up their ass. This is absolutely pathetic and collusion at its finest. Not to mention a slippery slope, killing a deal of this magnitude.
  14. Can't say I ever expected to see the Lakers become victims of NBA corruption.
  15. LOL now multiple NBA personalities are posting on twitter than the other owners are lobbying for Stern to kill the deal, and he's actually considering it. How pathetic. You know the Knicks and Cuban are leading the charge. What little bitches.
  16. Hopefully Derrick Rose can find someone to buddy up with before too long.
  17. Wait a minute, apparently the Lakers got $9 million trade exception in the deal. If that helps them get Dwight, sweet jesus this is robbery.
  18. So it's not a done deal then. This isn't a great trade for the Lakers, in the short term in the least. Sacrificing two prominent members of their frontcourt for another guard? I don't know. Lateral move for this season, Heat and Bulls would wreck them in a finals matchup.

  20. Just what we needed, an old baseball goon who's obsessed with tradition and can't get his head out of the past.
