There goes Holier-than-thou Curt Schilling, flapping his lips about Clemens. If Schilling was in The Sopranos, he would have been whacked along time ago, and buried next to Eric Mangini. Curt, you don't know all the facts, just shut the hell up. You talk too much.

The last bit is on the mark--an inverse relationship. But what my point is, and I think many would agree with me, is that in a day and age when ballplayers make in one game as much as many of us make in a year, charging ANY money for an autograph is an insult. They are already enjoying the fruits of capitalism to a degree beyond our imagination. And that's fine. But there is a threshold of common decency that is crossed when players engage in this kind of money-grubbing. It just comes off as extremely greedy. That's my basic point. I'm not suggesting they should be denied the right to do it, or for a fan to cough up the money for a scribble or two, if they want to blow their cash on something like that. Now, if they defreeze Ted Williams and he shows up at the Burlington Mall, I'll be first in line. Otherwise, any money I spend on the Red Sox will be on tickets or caps. Good night....

Looks like the Boras effect is already in full effect--Ellsbury is charging $150 for an autographed item that you bring. Unbelievable. I was dead set against trading him for Santana, but this one story has changed everything for me. It is a total insult and stinks of arrogance and stupidity, so see ya, Jacoby. Have fun sticking it to the fans in Minnesotta. :thumbdown

The more I think about it, the more I think the Santana deal shouldn't happen if Ellsbury is the bait. If we don't do the trade, we still have a long term rotation of Beckett, Matsuzaka, Lester and Buchholz. That's fine by me. We have Schill and Wake next year, and we can always sign a free agent stud next winter. We can trade Coco mid-season, or put him in center and move Jacoby to RF if Drew stinks up the joint again. Bottom line: Keep Ellsbury.

I love Jacoby, but we'd still have Coco, who is stellar in CF, if not at the plate. He could come around there, though. Santana is only 28. We'd have Beckett, Santana, Matsuzaka and Bucholz set in stone for the next 6 years, more or less. Ellsbury was very impressive during his short spell with the big club. There is no prolonged peroid of sustained major league stats that he's put up, whereas Santana is a proven stud, maybe the best pitcher in the game. You gotta do the deal. Pitching: Santana. Defense: Coco. Pitching and Defense equal..........

Just when we had the dagger unsheathed, Choka-Jima and Papel-Blow lay a mammoth turd on Red Sox Nation. Just when Dice-K had pitched a very good game against NY, after a few dodgy outings, and now this. f***ing pathetic. I have heartburn right now, and it's not from my dinner. I am so f***ing pissed off right now. A 5 run lead in the 8th at home in the series opener, and we cough it up. Do we want to win the f***ing division or not? What the f***!!!! After a week of stupid Patriots ******** at the hands of a New York s*** franchise, I have to sleep with this f***ing loss ringing in my head.

That was disgusting to watch tonight. Asbsolutely horrid. To comeback and take the lead like that and then have Gag-me blow it again, I'm at a total loss. Tito blew his top at the ump, and I hope he lays into Gag-me because this clown is no joke. It was like batting practice out there, every ball was just hanging there. Worst loss of the season.

What should have been a sweep turned into a nightmare this weekend. But I can't put all the blame on the Frenchman;) , Theo tinkered with the best 1-2 punch in baseball (Oki-Pap). Did you see the look on Oki's face after Gagne gave up the HR? Pure venom. We traded Gabbard who was 4-0, young and promising for a fat, washed up, surgically repaired sweat gland, for no good reason. Theo has done a deal just to do a deal yet again, and yet again, we're paying the price. Pathetic.
