Carlos Pena up. Careful Curt
I am upset that he slipped through our fingers - only consolation is that Yankees f***ed up too - they could have used him.
Thanks for the point. I almost fell out of my chair when I saw 'Cora' and 'Smart' together in the same sentense. Did you see Cora try to bunt 2 nights back - that was more hillarious than Mr Bean episode.
He should get serious consideration for gold glove this year. I think the way he is playing the defense - I can live with his lack of power. Should just work more on getting on base and reducing strike outs. He was so good in taking walks earlier in the season - not sure what happened.
Unrelated to the Joba story - but I have the painful misfortune of watching YES network every night (I live in Brooklyn and my wife is a yankee fan) and that is the worst sports network I have ever witnessed. Most of the time they do not have the score up and if you just switched channel you will have no clue what the score is in the middle of a game for minutes. Michael Kay is beyond annoying - he has big man crush for Jeter and A-Rod and they can do no wrong. I understand that they will be biassed towards the Yankees - but he is beyond all logic fanatic which makes it hard to listen to him. For example - I was watching the Baltimore game in mlb.TV premium and the O's broadcasters called D'Cab throwing to D'Pad - plain and simple stupid. Michael Kay would never/ever done that inthe Joba incident. Al Leiter is actually not too bad and at least has an objective approach towards the game.
You mean how many games we would have won this year with Millar, Mueller, Belhorn, Lowe, Pedro, Damon, Arroyo, Nixon in our roster? Not that many will be my guess.
I do not think that a player should be hailed just because he dives at every ball ( e.g. Eric Byrnes) or plays hurt ( e.g. Damon). I am amazed that some posters in this board still misses Nixon. There are some players who can seem to be extremly casual but can make any pitcher s*** in their pants when the game is on the line( e.g. Manny). Ultimately - it should come down to performance. I don't think that most fans don't like Drew because it seems like he does not care. I think they don't like him because he has sucked all year - just think of the crucial double plays and strike outs in the last two games. He does look out of sync and lost at the plate the way he swings. He has earlier turned it around in the post season( I think with the Braves) - and I will be more than happy if he does that.
