Random thought but Scott Atchison has been doing a fairly respectable job here recently. Last weekend against LA he looked really good - I think he struck out 5 over 3 scoreless. I realize he's not going to carry the 'pen or anything, but he has been doing a pretty solid job as of late which is nice to see.

What a blown game by Serbia. They have to be kicking themselves for losing to Australia and now they're going home. Ghana it is. We lost to them in '06 at the WC.

Germany and Ghana and Serbia and Australia are both tied 0-0 at the half. Who advances there is still totally up in the air. I'm really not sure who I'd rather face between Germany, Serbia, and Ghana. All three are really good teams.

WOW! So proud of this team. That was one of the best games I've ever seen. How did we not win something like 4-0? Regardless, we just went from being eliminated to WINNING THE GROUP. Amazing stuff. Another reason I'm really, really glad we won is that had we not I would've been pissed off all day and not felt like watching the two matches at 1:30, and both are huge. Also, kudos to Algeria for playing for the... tie. They need to win by 2+ to advance and yet they were totally comfortable playing to tie. Uh, great effort guys.

I really don't see it, example1. Seattle is going to want a haul of young talent that I don't think the Sox are going to be willing to give up. We'd be more likely to pull the trigger if he wasn't about to hit the FA market and get a HUGE pay day, but at the trade deadline I think we're going to focus on getting a reliever or two, maybe an OF as well.

I caught the Dodgers series last weekend. I had my last night of umpiring (I may do a random tournament here and there later this summer) Thursday night so I should be able to catch a lot more games now. I had been watching most of the games in the past, only I rarely saw them live. I would have to Tivo them every night.

lol France South Africa goes up 1-0 early, and France just had a man sent off for an elbow to the face. Hahaha. This is great. They just said on the broadcast that an Ireland pizza company is giving away free pizzas every time France concedes a goal. Awesome. Edit: 2-0 South Africa! Pour it on.
