He was a closer in college ball. He SHOULD have the poise to play anywhere. I doubt he cant't not play in Boston/New York. This guy was brought up too early and that's why he did not do so good for the Sox last year. End of story.
Jacoby was brought up too early. The Red Sox are not desperate and do not need him. We are up by 10.5 games in 1st; there is no need for prospects to be playing in Boston at this moment.
On the other hand according to Remy, this is part of his training to become an everyday player in Boston.
I'm glad he'll be out for so long. I want him to rest up for later this season down the stretch. He's only going to miss possibly 5-7 more starts. At worst we lose 4 of those games. With Schilling and being optimistic, we lose 2 of those games. Thats only a 2 game difference. I think Schilling is worth the wait.
Papelbon had a lot more save opportunities than Timlin.
Timlin was 13/20. Papelbon was 35/41.
Timlin 2004 Save%: 65%
Papelbon 2006 Save%: 85%
There is quite a difference.
I've never liked Timlin. Our BP was fine without him, and now he returns and the BP ERA skyrockets. Who cares about the past, if he hurts our chances to win now, get rid of him. I would wait it out for 3 more appearances and see how he does.
