  1. I would definitely at least start him out there with someone warming. A couple hard hit balls in the inning but nothing too bad other than the homer.
  2. I blame Ross for shying away from contact and not blocking the plate. Inning would have been over
  3. Ross did a horrible job of blocking the plate there
  4. This. Yes, the Sox have a dominant bullpen, but they still need more strong arms. It also seems like every game they are playing in is a close game where they need to use their big 3 of Tazawa, Uehara, and Bailey at least once throughout every game. With Uehara's injury history and current age, he is bound to get tired or injured throughout this year at some point. It's very important for Hanrahan to come back strong. Otherwise, our bullpen might be in trouble if one guy goes down.
  5. Even if De La Rosa does not pan out in the rotation, I could easily see him as a late inning setup man. Obviously a guy that has a live fastball like that can usually fit into the bullpen. If we eventually get two useful major league pitchers from that trade, it will be a huge win for the sox.
  6. It's funny how more and more "long time Nava fans" are coming out of the woodwork all of a sudden... I would usually knock Nava and think he could never be a full-time corner outfielder because of his lack of power, but he is proving me wrong thus far this year. He will go on a slump very soon and people will start calling for his head again.
  7. Salty is horrible protection for the meat of the lineup. He should not be hitting there. Also notice how people have stopped talking about Salty's improved eye at the plate. He's evened out to normal s***** salty.
  8. Farrell just hates Carp I guess
  9. I wouldn't want Webster up this early in the season when there is no real need for him. Aceves will fill in nicely for a few spot starts. I don't want to see Webster coming out of the pen at the big league level right now. Give him more starts down in Pawtucket and get him ready to fill in if needed down the road in the rotation. Do you guys think if Bailey pitches well as the closer while Hanrahan is on the DL he will keep the spot even when Joel gets back? I think he might and Hanrahan could slide in as the lock down set- up man. We'll see how this plays out.
  10. He's a solid reliever, I've always thought that way. He's not going to be your set- up shut down man, but every bullpen needs those solid relievers that can go multiple innings. Not every pitcher in the pen is going to throw gas.
  11. Well, Hanrahan's hamstring was enough to DL him for 15 days. Hopefully after this stint he can come back feeling more confident in his abilities. Bailey will be closing for the near future and except for yesterdays meltdown, he has been healthy and downright electric. I like him in that closer spot for the time being. Steven Wright called up as a result. http://fullcount.weei.com/sports/boston/baseball/red-sox/2013/04/16/joel-hanrahan-to-dl-steven-wright-up-from-triple-a/
  12. Very true. With almost 80 pitches already, his pitch count would be over 120 by the 9th. Even with his dominant stuff, Clay still likes to pitch around the strike zone. Throw strikes your up 4 runs!
  13. Yeah I think you've got his skills mixed up. He's been a pretty consistently good hitter. His defense is always lacking because he's lazy as s***.
  14. I go with the hot hand all day in that situation rather than the cold bat off the bench. Ross still has good power. Either way great win gotta love to see that speed work out at the top of the lineup.
  15. Why is Salty hitting for Ross here? Ross with one of the only ball with good contact all day. Not like Salty is a good chance to get on
  16. 90+ pitches through 5 for Price. Huge inning for the sox, hopefully price will be done after 6
  17. Very Frustrating watching this offense sometimes. Best thing we can try to do here is work the counts and try to get to the bullpen as soon as possible
  18. They don't have Aceves in the pen available to go multiple innings early in this game with Dempster's pitch count already very high.
  19. I would agree with that statement. But my original argument that he will be a "solid" placeholder for 2 or 3 starts based on his career starts.
  20. I guess a 4.18 ERA might not be considered "excelling" but its pretty damn solid for your 5th starter. A solid placeholder
  21. Aceves will be solid for that short term plan. It's pretty much what he wants to do all along, so that should give him motivation to fill the spot well in his 2 starts. Wilson will fill in Aceves' spot as the long relief man in the pen during these next few weeks. Wilson is a decent fill in for that sort of roll
  22. Alex Wilson called up as a result.
  23. The batting practice tour can be fun, depending on if you get lucky with the hitters taking batting practice. Its always fun to go up on the monster and see the view from up there though. The only thing is that it will take away some time from the rest of the tour. In the non- batting practice tour you will get to see more of the park, and see some different things. I've done both and I would recommend both, it just depends on what you would rather see.
  24. Six games into the season and Chris Davis and Morse are the hottest hitters in the league. See how long that will last
  25. I believe I read on Redsox.com that it will be a few long time patients of the Jimmy Fund.
