  1. "They talk about 5 tool players, Arod is a 6-tool player, his brain is a tool, he's so smart..." Listening to this group makes me want to vomit up the pizza I'm eating.
  2. I'm expecting them to win the division. The point is, there is really only 1 other team outside of TB (and sox) that could win the Wild Card and it's Tampa I'm more worried about.
  3. Minnesota is the only other team in the race and quite frankly I'm not too worried about them. The Rays are the better team and have the better record, so them losing is pretty big, even if it's to the Twins.
  4. Sox lineup vs Moseley: Ellsbury - 0 for 3 Scutaro - 2 for 5 Ortiz - 1 for 3 Martinez - 1 for 4 Drew - 2 for 6, HR, 2B Beltre - 0 for 6, 2BB Kalish - Hall - Cash - I'm split about this. The Sox have had a ton of success against Burnett since joining the Skanks, but he still has the ability to completely dominate a game. On the flip side, the Sox always struggle against unknowns.
  5. Sox vs Burnett: Ellsbury - .308, .333, .462, .795 (8 for 26, 1HR, 1BB, 4K) Scutaro - .304, .385, .348, .732 (7 for 23, 3BB, 1K) Ortiz - .256, .275, .615, .890 (10 for 39, 3HR , 1BB, 12K) Martinez - .273, .448, .500, .948 (6 for 22, 1 HR, 6BB, 1K) Drew - .267, .361, .367, .728 (8 for 30, 5BB, 7K) Beltre - .323, .364, .613, .977 (10 for 31, 1HR, 2BB, 5K) Kalish - Hall - .182, .308, .364, .671 (2 for 11, 2BB, 5K) Cash - (0 for 3, 2BB, 2K) s***** lineup, but not much else to change. Lowrie and Lowell haven't had any success against Burnett. My one BIG problem is the order. Why is Beltre dropped into the 6 spot? He's the best hitter on the team and has had the most success against Burnett. What reason on Earth is there to hit JD and Vmart ahead of him? Yankees lineup hasn't yet been announced, but here's their line against Beckett: Jeter - .283, .317, .400, .717 (17 for 60, 2HR, 2BB, 7K) Swisher - .280, .400, .520, .920 (7 for 25, 2HR, 5BB, 8K) Teixeira - .143, .314, .143, .457 (4 for 28, 7BB, 10K) Rodriguez - .294, .368, .490, .859 (15 for 51, 2 HR, 6BB, 10K) Cano - .346, .404, .654, 1.057 (18 for 52, 3HR, 4BB, 6K) Posada - .333, .389, .455, .843 (11 for 33, 1HR, 3BB, 10K) Berkman - .167, .211, .389, .599 (3 for 18, 1HR, 1BB, 7K) Granderson - .188, .188, .500, .688 (3 for 16, 1HR, 8K) Gardner - .235, .278, .294, .572 (4 for 17, 1BB, 5K) Cervelli - 2 for 5, 1BB Pena - 0 for 3 Kearns - 0 for 4 Thames - 3 for 9, 1HR
  6. s***, I didn't realize the game is at 4pm tomorrow. I'm gonna be at work until at least 7pm. f***ing Saturday day games.
  7. MLB gameday has that pitching about a foot inside the K-zone (no joke). This ump is pathetic.
  8. WHAT!!!! NO!! That's STRIKE 3!!! f***ING ********!
  9. Go to the damned splitter!
  10. Who said Jacoby couldn't or wouldn't yet dive?
  11. I'm torn. If Beckett dominates down the stretch, I think you have to go with him as the #1.
  12. KALISH!!!! YEAH!!!!!! HAPPY FIRST HR!!!! IN YANKEE STADIUM!!!! HELL YEAH!
  13. Where ya at? I drive fast. Ahh, don't like the Greek style pan pizza? (I'm not a big fan myself). I'd go for some sort of chicken sub.
  14. SCUTARO!!!! YEAH YEAH YEAH!!!!
  15. Flashback to Anaheim? Please?
  16. He just walked in a run!!
  17. HUGE spot for Ellbury. He needs to show this team what it was missing.
  18. What are you getting me? What type of pizza?
  19. If Cameron can come back soon and JD still can't hit LHP, I might use Kalish as the Platoon hitter in RF.
  20. Yes, he means RHP. His LHP line is DISGUSTING: .167 BA, .250 OBP, .235 SLG, .485 OPS in 116 PA. Hell, I'd just go ahead and platoon him with McDonald now.
  21. Why isn't Beltre in the cleanup spot? I imagine he'd give Papi better protection than Vmart, let alone the whole "thing" of putting your better hitters higher in the batting order...
  22. I love Beltre, but I too worry that he's as extreme a "contract year player" as it gets. The 2 major outlier seasons in his career have both been major contract years and the difference in performance is drastic. On the other hand, his line isn't THAT far off from his career line away from SafeCo and he didn't perform well before getting injured last year, so maybe its just BS. Perhaps things will be different if he were to sign a multi-year deal with the Sox, but the concern is certainly real. It's decisions like this that make me glad I'm not in Theo's shoes.
