Ya, if batted, its an out. If hit by a throw from a fielder, nothing happens. For instance, if Lowell was hit with a thrown pitch while in the middle of the base paths, the defense could sill recover the ball and tag him out if he isn't on base yet. Obviously though, Lowell was on 2nd before they could pick up the ball.

I agree that these things will happen. But thats exactly why I don't like the gov't trying to ban guns, etc. It wont help. Freedom isn't free, it can cost lives, some people tend to forget that nowadays. But lets get back on track. I'm expecting Manny to have a big game.

I don't like picking and choosing, so I want all drugs to be legalized. The reason it is illegal to drive drunk or intoxicated is that it is very dangerous and those actions kill OTHER people. It is impossible for a drug to kill someone not taking it. If someone takes LCD and goes crazy and gets fired, destroys his family, etc, the problem is on the PERSON not the drug. People need to be held accountable for their actions, not drugs or guns. The constitution protects people from each other, not from themselves. There really isn't a sound agrument for banning guns. I'm all for regulation. But not banning. Banning would be a terrible idea. Criminals don't follow the law. Banning guns wouldn't prevent criminals from getting guns, it would prevent law-biding citizens from getting guns. There are far too many cases where new laws prevented a citizen from carrying a firearm and a situation arised where, had the citizen had their weapon, they could have prevented a bloodbath. Citizens should have the right to protect themselves to the full extent possible. Obviously, a nuke would't work, because that would kill many innocent people, thus is against the law... And the yelling fire thing in a public theater, you know thats not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about censorship. That has nothing to do with yelling fire in a public place. That is about suppressing people's thoughts and ideas. The idea of vulgar language and words themselves being offensive is rediculous. Its an old myth. Its not the words, its the meaning behind them that matters. Censorship and yelling fire have nothing to do with eachother.

In time of crisis? Whats the crisis? I have nothing against the laws against driving drunk. Thats cool. But the drug itself is not banned. It would be foolish to ban it. Just as it is foolish to ban other drugs. What a person does with their body is their business, not the Gov't. And I disagree whole-heartedly with the idea of giving up some "personal freedoms". The whole point of the constitution is to protect against that. Fredom isn't being willing to give up certain freedoms. Its all or nothing. Either you maintain your freedom to the most absolutely form possible, or you don't have it at all. You can't pick and choose. When you start giving up certain freedoms due to fear or "society", your no longer looking at freedom. Thomas Jefferson once said: "Those who desire to give up freedom in order to gain security will not have, nor do they deserve, either one." Banning certain drugs is necessary, in your view, to maintain "order" and safty in country. That is exactly what the founders of this country fought to prevent. Just like the Gov't trying to pry away certain freedoms due to the fear of terrorism, you either have to take freedom as it is, in its pure-ist form, or it isn't freedom. Once you open the door to taking away personal freedoms, it will continue to grow and take more and more until there is nothing left.

Crespoblow, what the f*** gives you, or the Gov't the right to tell me what I can and can't do to myself? ... That was just playing devils advocate, I don't have a problem with you. But I'm trying to make a point. Freedom isn't about protecting the common. It's about protecting those who piss off the Gov't, common, etc. You can't honestly tell me there is a legit reason to outlaw drugs, that is in accordance to the constitution. The gov't is getting awefully comfortably tredding on our freedoms. If drugs were legalized the problem would got down. The black market would dissapear. Crime would go down because you have less shady deals, drug traffic, etc. Deaths would decline as people would be more willing to go to hospitals and clinics as they won't have to fear prosecution. Let people figure it out on their own. Instead of outlawing something which, according to the consitution and freedom itself should be perfectly legal, teach our youth about the actual dangers of drugs and have plenty of rehab centers. And I just don't get why pot is illegal. There hasn't been a single person who died from it. Not one. Yet thousands die from alcohol poisoning each year. And pot is proven to be useful as a pain reliever, etc. Where's the problem?

Please don't compare baseball preseason to football preseason, they have nothing in common. Even if we have to cut Moss, we still are the favorites. Again, We are the favorites WITHOUT Moss. With a prime, behaving Moss, we are extreme favorites.

You do realize Cora never had a hit in Yankee stadium until yesterday, off the Yankees Ace. I think it's more than just a favorable matchup. Cora is playing really damned good right now while Pedroia isn't.

Put a smile on my face too. At first I thought he was going to go the opposite direction "We can't play the yankees every day. Pretty soon where going to face terrible teams that we will kill even worse." But then I remembered how terrible the Yankees are... Ahh its good to be a Bostonian right now.

I agree to an extent COY, but I honestly don't think Pedroia will ever amount to anything. Lets face it, he has no + tools. Hes not know for great defense, he doesn't have power, but he isn't a great contact hitter, and he has average speed at best. I want to give him time to show us what he has, but not give away our 9 spot when we could get better production right now out of Cora or possibly someone else. What I'm really concerned with is the long run, I honestly don't know if he will be anything more than an average 2B. If thats the case, do you really care all that much about protecting him and keeping him a sox, or look into upgrading the possition? Yes I know that it is way to early to really be judging him as a MLB player, but his performance so far this season, a long with last, does beg the question. In no means are we desperate at all. I'm just looking at one of our struggling players. If anything, its good news that this is one of our only concerns right now for the team.

I'm in no way saying that we should "give up" on Pedroia. For the record, I also hated when Theo traded Bard and Meredith for Mirabelli, I thought it was a stupid trade that was a knee-jerk reaction by Theo after a bad game or 2 behind the plate with Bard. You obviously didn't read my whole post, because I specifically said that Cora isn't gonna keep hitting this well. But the fact remains that he is, and he is getting clutch hits and getting the job done, while Pedroia is not. I absolutely understand that it will take time for Pedroia to develope, but to tell you the truth, I'm not sold on him either. I'd rather put a better lineup out there day-to-day, (also not weakening our lineup with Cora) than worry about Pedroia not getting his time to develope. Remember too that Pedroia had over a month with the club at the end of last season after we out of contention and he didn't do anything. I'm not sold on him being MLB ready. For the record, I also thought it was a mistake to not re-sign Loretta. He is a profession guy who did a good job for our team last year. I didn't like the fact that we were relying on Pedroia and didn't really have a back up option other than Cora if he didn't do well. I'll give it time, but again, I'm not sold on Pedroia. In my book, you really gotta earn your playing time on a team like ours. I thought that Loretta should have been back with us and they could have brought Pedroia up a few times to the bigs or use him if Loretta or Lugo got injured. But remember, I don't think Pedroia will ever be a big impact player. It would be one thing if a big prospect was slumping, but were not talking a prospect here. I have always had my doubts on Pedroia's MLB capabilities. The guys you listed above, Bard, Meredith, Sanchez; those where all prospects. Pedroia never was a true prospect. If hanley ramirez, ellsbury, the guys above, etc were struggling, then i might be more inclined to keep giving them playing time. But with Pedroia never really showing that he had the tools to be an impact MLB player, I don't have as much patience with him. That being said, I don't want him to be traded, but I wouldnt mind if Cora got more playing time then him. With no one else to play 2B, he obviously woudnt be sent to AAA. But I am not sold on Pedroia ever being more than average. He is a bottom level prospect at best, so I think he should be treated like one. I think some people tend to think to highly of him. He really doesn't have any +tools and certainly hasn't shown any yet at the MLB level. He has played some good defense however. But yes, it is too early too really judge him, so he does need time. Part of my question though, is how much time should we give him? If he hasn't found his way out of his slump and doesnt get more consistant by All-star break (worst case senario baring injury), what do you do?
