  1. Basically his #1 job It probably gas. it will pass. Tek will be playing elsewhere next season. Someone will give him a shot. The only way he comes back to the Sox is in a back up role, or maybe a coaching/FO spot
  2. I won't go as far as to say the Yanks peaked too early. But they have seemingly cooled off a bit from there earlier tear.
  3. AFC East Patriots Jets Dolphins Bills AFC North Pittsburgh Baltimore Cleveland Cincinnati AFC West San Diego Denver Oakland Kansas City AFC South Tennessee Indianapolis Houston Jacksonville NFC East New York Philadelphia Dallas Washington NFC North Minnesota Green Bay Chicago Detroit NFC West Seattle Arizona San Francisco St. Louis NFC South New Orleans Atlanta Carolina Tampa Bay
  4. Even if the Sox don't pick up his option, he can. But if he knows he is coming back as a back up, he might choose to go elsewhere. Also the back up needs to be a good player. He will probably be catching a little more then just Wake(if he is around). V-Mart will need time at 1B/DH to keep him fresh. So the back up should see a fair amount of AB's. I wouldn't mind giving one of the guys in the minors a shot. They can always go after Mauer after '10 season:D
  5. I buy the whole "Southern Boy" mentality deal as well. I was born and raised in Maine until I was 14, then moved to Virginia and Florida. So I really understand what the writer was trying to describe. And it makes a ton of sense when you consider JD's demeanor and how he plays the game. Maybe this is why I like him and tend not to get too upset with him. Whereas the older NE posters who are a little more fiery and passionate don't typically care for him:D

    TO

Ok this belongs in "other sports" TO is a attention seeking douche bag . He's a diva WR(where the divas usually play). He plays on an Island and this causes a me first mentality. Couple that with a frail ego and a constant need to be reassured, it's an recipe for 7-11 mouth. There was no disputing his on the field skills in his prime though. Guy was a beast. I still wouldn't want him on my team though.
  7. There's nothing poor about Jon Lester lol It would be hard to let Beckett hit the open Market. The Yankees would surely be sniffing around. Can you imagine what it might be like with both Beckett and Mauer possibly on the market at the same time?
  8. Drool... If the Sox get HWSNBN, does that end Beckett's tenure in Boston after 2010? Be great to have both going forward, but I can't imagine it will be too cheap though.
  9. I don't see it either, but I read it so figured it was worth mentioning.
  10. Example, always the voice of reason The only competition I see is the Giants. If they offer up Cain or Bumgarner, the Sox might have to overpay. I could see a Cain for Fielder deal straight up possibly. And he is far better at this point then any of the SP Boston would likely offer, outside of maybe Dice-K. Maybe the Sox part with Kelly, and do a Kelly/Anderson/Bowden+OF and go for Hardy and Fielder:dunno:
  11. Like the article. Some of us have been saying a lot of that for awhile now. Makes the Drew hatters seem like pricks hahaha
  12. About the best they could have hoped for out of Dice-K. I liked the increase in FB's coupled with the less "nibbling" with the CB's on the corners. He seemed to be a little more aggressive in the zone last night. And he had more success with it. If he was on a regular PC last night he probably could have gone 7 plus innings and that I believe would have been the first time this season. So ya, pretty much his best start of the year IMO.
  13. Looking forward to seeing what Dice-K has.
  14. I'd be on board for bringing Pedro back next season. It would be worth a shot. He has looked very good so far in Philly. But Philly is in the NL. Although Phillies home field is a ban box so to speak. If it doesn't work out cut him and let him go back to the NL.
  15. You raise a valid point. What about LAA? Fielder>Morales:dunno:
  16. Bedard wouldn't get more from the Sox then Penny got. The whole point is to get them on the cheap. 8M guaranteed +7M in incentives is not cheap. Bedard is probably looking at 5-7M base salary, with 1-3 M in incentives. And the chance to rebuild his value in Boston. 1B/SP+ package for Fielder is a good place to start. The cost could however go up depending on who gets involved.
  17. Took you long enough lol I'm not sure I feel great about Buchholz leaving for anyone at this point. He seems to have finally turned a corner.
  18. Fielder is due to make some real $ soon. And the Brewers aren't typically a team that dumps a large % of it's resources into one player. If they go for Fielder they should also try and bring back Hardy as well. 2 birds, one stone deal. Although I can get on board for just fielder.
  19. It's on Insider, so no details Thoughts? I like the idea of fielder at 1B/DH for the future.
  20. Was just reading an article about Vlad. Got me thinking. If Bay and Holliday wind up signing elsewhere, would Vlad be an option for LF/DH for the Sox until one of the young OF is possibly ready? He's hitting at a .298/.338/.467 clip this season. Not sure what his health situation is currently. I know his legs are fading, kind of like Andre Dawson. And I'm not sure if he's planning on any procedure this off season either. He's only 33. So I would think he still has a few good years left in him. This is the first season he's missed significant time since 2003. Dude does swing at a lot of pitches though. He loves those 1 foot outside in the dirt type pitches
  21. Any 1st half Yankees vs Red Sox game:D
  22. Fools lol They have some interesting talent. the new GM has shown he'll make a big move. Depends on how they actually feel about their chances to contend next year. They gave Carlos Lee a 100M. Just saying. I would put them very low on the list to be honest.
  23. Not a bad option. There are a few veterans on the that team I could see the Sox being interested in. Can't argue that No I was talking about trading Papelbon. Bringing back Wagner if the Sox felt an in house option wasn't the answer. I would think, Cubs Philly Brewers Houston LAA(I know they have Fuentes, but still) Cleveland Detroit Would all have measurable interest. He would most certainly be the best available CL for a team in search of one. But that's all I have to say on the subject for now, and in this thread. I have wandered close enough to turning this thread turn into another "what if trade scenario". I'll quit while I'm ahead
