  1. The MRSA virus?? BAHAHAHA. It's not a f***ing virus, it is Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus, it's a bacteria
  2. A pitcher on a playoff team has a lot more pull than one on a non-playoff team, especially if the player isnt head and shoulders above all else
  3. He wont win it for 3 reasons. 1. The sox are likely to miss the playoffs 2. Jon Lester is gonna steal a bunch of votes 3. His IP is probably going to be in the 180-190 range, and most CY's throw 200+ in a season
  4. ANd I'll be working today, just as an FYI through most of the Yankees game. Hopefully I tune in in time for us to come back
  5. Boy would I love to see that bat in the Bronx. After being a .880-.900OPS guy for the last 4-5 yrs, he's slumped to .775 this yr. He's got a great lefty swing for Yankee stadium and I think this yr is probably just a fluke. He wouldnt cost anything now that he's been released. The only problem is that he is absolutely abysmal in the OF, so he'd need to be a DH. He'd be some nice lefty thunder off the bench
  6. Sounds kinda fishy. You typically dont fail physicals over minor issues, and you definitely dont see a 75% reduction in bonus for a failed physical either unless there is some serious concern. Especially since he's jumped right back on the field. Wouldnt be surprised if they found an issue with his throwing arm or with one of his knees. Mostly because surgery for both would require significant rehab time and loss of potential return
  7. Cito Culver and Rob Segedin were promoted to SI as well. Culver has seen his BA improve from July to August. His patience for the yr is pretty good as his average is tolerable as well. His power has been pretty late to the party, but he is just 17 and is not a "now" power kind of player. The expectation is that Culver will probably stay at SI this yr and will probably start off there next yr as well. The Yankees typically take a 30 day eval period where they dont tinker with anything, then start tinkering with swings and approaches. Seems Culver is responding to his changes, but he's got a long way to go. Segedin was in the GCL mostly to get comfortable again after taking the summer off to recoup from a back injury. It took only two games. He went 0fer in game 1, then went 2 for 5 with a bomb in game 2, so they moved him up.
  8. It's almost like clockwork. When I dont watch, we lose
  9. any day that we win is a victory. Any day the sox lose is an indirect victory
  10. Onto the ugliest ballplayers of all time. This pic came up. I am a Yankee fan, but it made me laugh a lot http://www.gravity-interactive.com/jeter_gay.jpg
  11. This might be the funniest thing I have ever read...
  12. He looks like a guy who should be shot out of a cannon at circuses.
  13. The Yankees win a lot
  14. tick another day off the calendar, Yanks win
  15. If Lackey didnt make it as a ball player, there is a very good chance he'd lock up an opening in the child molester profession. Man, he's a creepy lookin dude
  16. BTW, Gaudin will probably finish the yr with NY, but with Aceves, Marte and eventually Pettitte returning, its fair to say he'll be redundant
  17. I think it's ludicrous, but a lot of Yankee fans on the other boards and others that I know are more interested in having a guy like Chamberlain closing (ie younger, harder throwing, longer future, etc) than Rivera. That all seemed to change when Chamberlain hit his rough spots.
  18. Seriously, not sure why we continue to use Mo in these 4 run games. I know we had to use our guys pretty early today, but at some point you have to trust your pen, especially when everyone is pitching well sans Gaudin. Why not Mitre here?
  19. If that was the case, then why did the Yankees have the highest bid for Cabrera? Sounds revisionist to me, but the Yankees had the highest bids for both Cabrera and Felix Hernandez and those guys turned elsewhere
  20. Chad Gaudin is a graduate of the Kevin Jepsen school of holding a lead
  21. Kevin "Lighter fluid" Jepsen on the hill. He f***ing sucks
  22. and a .460OPS with the bases loaded
  23. Hall has been pretty good of late. You sure you want to pinch hit for him?
