  1. Scott Proctor actually looks good, lol
  2. Being billed as a calf injury. Will be interesting to see how they handle him. If it's just a cramp, then he'll be fine. If he pulled it, he's probably out for the regular season so they can get him ready for the playoffs
  3. Garcia had nothing today. Good thing the offense is picking up the slack
  4. Beckett leaves with foot injury
  5. The reason why I would do it in reverse is that Freddy is a Type B and you can get a pick for him. Colon wont be a type anything and probably would come cheaper. I dont want to bring either of them back with their names etched into a rotation spot. I want them to battle against another one of our kids in ST
  6. He should be. Stress fractures just need time to heal. There really arent any procedures to be done for them aside from the microfracture stuff which they dont do on vertebrae. And as long as they get time to heal, there typically arent any lingering issues aside from the increased likelihood of another one in the same spot. I think the biggest problem is going to be him building up his strength again and reworking his mechanics. There is no way a guy who was pitching with a fracture was using his normal mechanics. They are going to need to build up his strength and rework his mechanics for him to be effective again. My guess is that he starts 2012 out slowly and by midseason, he's gonna be solid
  7. Johan was good for a sub 1.2WHIP a sub 3ERA and nearly 8K per 9 in a Mets uniform. He also threw 2 seasons with 199 or higher IP in his three. But his last 2 yrs ended in surgery and he's out this yr. He was never an overpowering type of pitcher, so he should come back just fine, especially in that ballpark. The Mets also have the right GM now to turn things around and a few nice looking kids blossoming at the big league level in Davis and Niese. That team will be a dark horse candidate by 2013, mark it here....unless Alderson blows it all up and goes into firesale mode
  8. We also moved Posada out of the catcher's spot and put Martin back there. Martin handles a staff well and plays gold glove caliber D. And the biggest disparity in ERA between the two clubs is in the pen. We are #6 in the AL in starter's ERA, only 0.15 ahead of Boston. But we are #1 in pen ERA, 0.58 ahead of Boston. And it wasnt even the biggest signings or the headliners. We lost Joba, who was throwing the ball really well, and Soriano was terrible early on and missed 2 months. It's been Rivera as usual and then a great cast of characters. Robertson has been otherworldly, Logan has stepped it up, Noesi was great as the long guy and two veterans found their stuff again in Wade and Ayala. And the final reason for the pitching staff being better is the starting pitching endurance. We have 36 less pen innings than the sox, meaning our pen is fresher when they come into games, so they can dominate. Rothschild has been money thus far, but there are a lot of factors to our staff being so good thus far, and he's only one of them
  9. my hope is that Burnett turns back the clock, throws a ridiculous September and a serviceable October up there so we can pawn him off at maybe 50 cents on the dollar to some unsuspecting nitwit GM in the offseason. I will tell you y228, I am ecstatic with the way the rotation worked out this yr. Hughes is back and at least showing improved stuff, although his endurance is in the shitter. That can be worked on in ST next yr. Nova has been a godsend and the old guys have been good. I think we're okay with a base of CC, Nova and Hughes to build off of for 2012 (yes, we are resigning CC). You add a solid pitcher to that like a CJ Wilson, a Yu Darvish or a solid trade candidate and you can throw a nice rotation out there. I'd resign Colon, let Garcia walk and have a competition for the #5 spot with Colon vs Warren/Phelps/Mitchell/Noesi. Hopefully we can groom another middle of the rotation to #2 starter out of that quartet before we bring forward Banuelos in 2013. It's nice to see our minor league system contributing to our rotation again.
  10. You'd rather have Lackey than Burnett? I mean, both of them suck balls, but Burnett has been almost a run better in ERA this yr and is over 0.1 better in WHIP. AND that is with Burnett being otherworldly awful in August so he could even sniff Lackey territory. I'd rather have Burnett since he is under contract for one less year also, so we can dump his ass sooner rather than later.
  11. Lackey doesnt look like a guy who will be reliable at all in the AL East. He's lost both command AND velocity. He can still run it up there to 93mph at time, but he cannot locate it . His breaking pitches lack bite as well. Barring a complete rebirth of his stuff, he wont be a reliable anything starter in the AL East for the rest of his contract
  12. CC was nasty again, we avoided KRob and Mo and swept away the Jays. We have the O's for 4 games before moving on to the west coast.
  13. Darvish just turned 25, he has a big man frame (6'5"), throws ched and has dominated the Japanese league this yr. If you thought DiceK dominated, check Darvish's numbers. He's had an ERA under 2 for 3 straight yrs now, and right now he is at 16-4 with a 1.54ERA. I think DiceK's struggles will bring the posting number down, but I think he will be the next big INTL fight between the Yanks and Sox.
  14. Brandon Jacobs has to be the top prospect in the sox system. He's 20, he's in his first long season league and he is showing now power. 17HRs, 30SBs and a .300 average. When he gets a bit older, he'll be a 30/30 threat. Bogaerts has been solid as well, although he doesnt have the speed of Jacobs and may profile more as a corner IFer/OFer than a SS. Ranaudo is probably #3 in the sox system as well. Middlebrooks is your #4 and Lavarnway is the #5, IMO
  15. Very telling that Crist was pulled. Rees led a valiant charge back, but they are down 23-20 with 21 seconds left.
  16. ManBan got shitstomped by the Pawsox today. His accuracy once again got the best of him. He's still struggling to adjust to his newfound velocity. Maybe they should have him vary his fastball speeds. He was untouchable at 92 when he hit the corners all the time. Now, he is walking the park throwing 96. Regardless, he's young and has some work to do, but today was a step back for the kid. Abraham Almonte is a guy who is going to be climbing up the Yankee prospect ladder. He wont get a lot of national attention because his numbers this yr are pedestrian, but a look inside his story will show that there is something there. He's a switch hitter with 4 tools now and power on the way. He just turned 22 and missed the entire 2010 season with a labrum injury in his throwing shoulder. He's got blazing speed, elite range and still possesses a cannon from CF. He started off the yr abysmally (.218 with a sub .600OPS pre-ASB.), but has been on a tear since. His overall line sits at .268/.333/.382 and his line since the ASB is an astounding .314/.370/.486. He also stole his 30th base tonight. After missing a season, it's okay to struggle as long as you bounce back. I think he is a solid top 10 talent, and based on the way he's bounced back over his last 280ABs, he might crack the top 10 on the Yankee lists. Look for a big yr out of him in 2012 As an aside, the Yanks have a lot of depth at the CF position, even in the bigs. Right now, Granderson has that spot locked up, but I think the likelihood is that Gardy and Grandy swap spots in 2012. Gardner is the better defender and would excel in CF for us. But creeping at the lower levels is some serious depth at the position. We have Justin Maxwell at AAA, who was tearing it up before blowing out his shoulder. He's more of a 4th OFer anyway. In AA, we have fading star Melky Mesa, who has been good in the second half. He's a 5 star talent who seems to be finding his status well below his ceiling. But below that, we have 4 talents who have big league starting CF talent. Abraham Almonte and Slade Heathcott in Tampa, Mason Williams in the NYP and Jake Cave, who was just drafted and signed
  17. lightning. ND looks rough right now. Defense is porous and Crist cannot throw a good pass
  18. Cano passed 100RBI giving the Yanks the lead. KRob-Mo for the game. 2 run lead to hold, cmon pen
  19. Colon didnt get lucky today. 2 Yankee stadium homeruns, a triple that should have been an out aside from the fact that it struck first base and bounced over Swisher's head. 8 baserunners in 6IP with 6K. It happens
  20. Auburn is about to followup their championship season with a loss to Utah State, lol
  21. The love affair is the power. Thing is, he was rushed a little by Atlanta and we pushed him in AA. He's 23 and in High A, so he's a yr or so old for the league, but he's having success. He must cut down on the K's, but the raw power is intriguing. I'd have him just outside the top 50
  22. And the fact that over the last few months, he's hitting over .300 also warrants some PT. I'd try to get Montero regular PT with Tex out. Get posada to 1b and get Jesus some swings at DH.
  23. What you are doing right now is selecting Gardner without the full season and after an abysmal month. It's easy to pcik times in the season when a player is at his worst and say he isnt very good. We should see how he does in September before making judgements.
