  1. How far Lester has fallen. Alright y'all, to work I go
  2. And the Yankees take another one.
  3. Nick Punto, pinch hitter? WTF?
  4. 4 hitless innings with 6K's and no walks in his first 3 rehab appearances. From the sounds of it, he is throwing mid to high 90s with a lights out slider.
  5. They've talked about dealing Shoppach of late to get Lavarnway up. I am wondering why Shoppach (a superior defender to anything in the sox system) isnt the starting catcher as he is also mashing
  6. Pedro would be the modern day player. But if you told me Ted Williams would hit 521 HRs while missing a few seasons, then I think you'd take it
  7. I guess the question is whether the player would follow the same career path or whether we'd be taking a guy from a different era and throwing him into this more advanced one. If you knew you could get a .300+BA, record # of walks and 714HR, how would it not be Ruth? And I am surprised nobody took Ted Williams, he'd be #2 on my list
  8. Sad I had to sleep through the game again, but such is life on overnights. Looks like CC was dominant and the Yankee O has gotten it going again. This team is starting to look just overpowering
  9. No tear, but he had some swelling. Achilles tendinitis is typically a 1-2 week thing but wont actually get fully better until the off season
  10. he was on the 40 man, so they had to option him at the beginning of the season. He was DFA'd soon after then re-signed
  11. Prior to this season, the Yankees had 3 top 50 prospects in Montero, Betances and Banuelos with one of them being a catcher and a top 5 prospect. We offered all 3 for Felix and the M's turned us down. Your farm has taken a jump upwards, and have 3 guys on the cusp of the top 50 (depending on the source) in Bradley, Barnes, and Bogaerts. If they turned down our package, a package of those 3 above likely wont get it done. The M's, rightfully so, want a Herschel Walker kind of deal. They'll get more realistic prior to his final contract season
  12. Cody Ross is a good second tier RFer. He would be an elite platoon player, but he doesnt have to be. He reminds me a lot of Xavier Nady about 5 years ago
  13. Beckett has decided to hold the ball on the mound at all times.
  14. Fastballs away, breaking balls down and in. The book is there and he hasnt adjusted
  15. we're all over Weaver right now.
  16. 2 homers allowed by Nova in inning #1. 2 run homer by Arod in the bottom of the inning. A sweep of these f***s would be really nice
  17. Through the glory years, the Yankees had balance. Our offense wasnt first in the league until we got ARod and Sheff. But we'd always be in the top 10. Our starters wouldnt win a ton of Cy Youngs (only one with Roger in 01) but the rotation was typically 4 deep with savvy veterans capable of elevating their game in crunch time. And we had a closer who never wavered and a pen until 2003 that was damn good from long relief to setup man.
  18. SFF, your team scored a shitload of runs vs the Yankees. Your pitching just gave up a shitload more.
  19. Also, many sox fans on here were talking about the ground they'd make up when CC went down. Well, the Yankees were 46-28 on June 27th when CC went down. We were 5 up on Baltimore and 7 up on the sox and rays in the L column. Fast forward to today, and we are 53-33 (only 7-5 while CC has been out), but are up 8 on B-more, 9 on TB, and 10 on the sox.
  20. You know what's a really bad decision? Starting Freddy longball in game 2 out of the break. You have Nova, who's been an ace since May 1 and Hughes who was the same up until the sox series. They should be 2 and 3 coming out of the break. Game 4 should be CC and then game 5 should be longball. We are facing Jerome Williams. Even a mediocre performance from Nova or Hughes should win us this game. Now we have to hope that Garcia can keep the Halos in the yard, which I bet he cannot. This is gonna be a battle of the pens
