    The sox did exactly what they're supposed to do. They worked counts and got a good outing from Lester. As much as I'd like to be a wet blanket here, the only thing you didn't have was clutch hitting. That's streaky in and of itself

    Typically, guys who take a "discount" want more security at a lower rate. The sox cannot have it both ways. Either give him a big time AAV over a shorter term, or accept a high length of commitment at a lower AAV. They cannot expect Jon to take both smaller years and dollars. That's just dumb business

    Lester and the sox have suspended negotiations. For how long, nobody knows, but I have a feeling he reaches open water now, he's too close to it to not take a dip. Like I've said before, I would not be the least bit surprised if the sox are silently pleased with this. They have a bunch of upper level guys who all project as big league starters and signing Lester for $25 mil a yr for 6-7 yrs isn't their usual MO

    Really? It's called adding depth. They got Aceves on a minor league deal with an opt out in a month or two. It's a no brainer. If he pitches well, he comes back up, if not, there's no commitment.

    On a more serious note, Napier's mom is a complete moron. How do you name a kid "Shabazz"? Really? He also has a sister names Titana. So Shabazz and Titty. They have a brother named Timmie, although all 3 have different last names.

    Tanaka strikes out 10 in 6IP to finish off a sterling spring. Our starters have been good this spring, especially the young guns. I am very excited about our pitching right now. If they can stay healthy and continue this into the season, we're gonna be hard to beat. I just hope the young guns in the pen are ready for the big time. This far, they've been dominant in spring games, but holding a 7th and 8th inning lead in Fenway going through the heart of the sox lineup is a little different than holding a lead at Steinbrenner field vs the back end scrubs

    Mike Trout is looking at a 10 yr $400 mil deal when he's a FA. Remember, he hits FA at age 26, 4 years from now.

    CC, Kuroda, Nova, Tanaka, Pineda. I have a feeling our rotation is going to be very, very good. Our ERA+ out of the rotation should be top 10 in baseball

    This is not very accurate. He "stopped trying to win?" That's revisionism at its finest. He was given a bunch of guys who played for themselves and he got a bunch of individuals instead of a team. That being said, he started September of 2011 in first place and on his way to the playoffs. A bad month does not a career define.

    CC of last yr was actually a very good pitcher without his velocity. When he started ramping up the velo, he lost command and was horrible. I hope he isn't looking at the radar gun. A 90mph fastball is still a good big league fastball. It isn't the elite one he used to have, but it isn't like he's throwing 80mph out there like Jamie Moyer. As long as he locates that pitch as well as his plus change and slider, he'll be a top tier level pitcher. If he cannot do that, then he's gonna get abused.
