  1. I don't think you can fault Cora all that much. Opening day, he went to his two best setup options and they blew it. Giving Betts the day off when Sale is pitching and you are facing "Project Wolverine" in tank mode shouldn't be a problem. Betts isn't playing 162 games this year. If he does, you will wear him down for the post season or the following seasons. Resting your stars is a reasonable thing to do
  2. The biggest takeaway from our first 5 games is that our rotation held well. Our offense was hit or miss, our pen was mismanaged and struggled. We need Boone to have a little more urgency. If youre giving a rookie some run out of the pen, have a safety net ready should the kid start giving up the game. If you have a reliever with a fragile psyche, don't throw him out there for multi inning performances in close games. If the guy who is killing you is on deck, don't walk the batter before him intentionally to pitch to him and allow the game winners. Stuff like that. To this point, I am not impressed with Boone
  3. What we need is for Frazier to be healthy. With Gardner able to man CF and Judge actually doing a reasonable job out there, we need another OFer who can play a corner position or squeak by in CF and be really good offensively. I don't think Thompson is that guy long term, but I do think Frazier can get some serious run once Hicks goes down again or if we see another injury. If Hicks returns and Frazier gets healthy, then I think we will be in a better spot to handle further injury issues
  4. I just noticed you have three more with the Rays. Man, the schedulers front loaded a soft schedule (not insinuating anything intentional clearly). Coincidentally helps your team get their guys back. If Pom returns vs the Yanks, you should be able to align Sale, Price and Pom for the Yankees set
  5. Hicks expected to miss the minimum and should be back for sox series
  6. 0-5 5K will have Fenway booing too
  7. Btw, Chris Sale hates his teammates
  8. He cannot seem to manage a pen.
  9. Just dumb. You're up 3, you bring in a rookie who puts two guys on. You don't wait for him to put 2 more guys on before going to the pen. He doesn't get it
  10. Boone trying to blow another one
  11. If not for a collapse in 1 inning, you’re undefeated. If not for some stupid managerial decisions, we are undefeated
  12. Btw, the crazy thing about both team’s starts is that both teams should still be undefeated
  13. He’s free, he can play all 3 OF positions, he can hit for power and he can steal bases. I foresee him getting a fair amount of PT until Frazier is ready.
  14. You’re lucky they’re facing the vaunted Floridian lineups
  15. We are being hit in one spot pretty hard. Thankfully, we have significant redundancy
  16. The NESN feed tonight looks like the cameraman is drunk
  17. Managers need to be smarter than their players. I’d rather have seen robertson work carefully to Donaldson with the leeway to walk him instead of loading the bases and forcing him to go after Smoak
  18. I don’t fault anyone for maximizing their financial return. In baseball, you’ve got a short window to make all the money you’re ever going to make. Yes, he’s making more than 0.001% of Americans do, but the trove of cash he is earning could generate enough interest income to keep generations of Price’s comfortable. Or, maybe he has business ventures. Who knows. Don’t hate on a guy who is just maximizing his value for a special skill he possesses.
  19. Last 2 games were interesting to say the least. Betances goes out and throws a clean inning in game 3. Instead of being content with that, he runs him back out there to a predictable disaster. Today, he walks the same handed Donaldson to face the lefty swinging Smoak (I know he’s a switch) who is already killing us and it backfires. It was just asinine. You load the bases to face Smoak with a 1 run lead, so KRob cannot afford to walk him and he had to come in with a full count. Just dumb
  20. They’ll bounce back. We need our manager to learn how to manage a game and a pen. Betances shouldn’t have gone a second inning yesterday. Today, INTL walking Donaldson to get to Smoak was just dumb
  21. And Boone walks Donaldson to get to him. What a f***ing dummy
  22. How much of this is Velasquez being good vs the Rays being awful? I’m not watching, honest question
  23. Gray getting needled with grounders into holes. Judge with a hell of a throw
