  1. Today’s lineup is the first one without a 30+ year old player in 29 years
  2. Report says are that he returns after just two rehab games assuming all goes well
  3. Sale can’t catch a break. 7IP 3ER 10K and his team gets no hit
  4. Torres is likely looking at a pretty long look at 2b. Walker has been abysmal and effectively becomes a platoon 1b until his bat heats up. Wade goes down most definitely. I do wonder what happens when Drury is ready. Andujar has been killing it lately and he has more offensive upside than Drury. And while Andujar isn’t know for his defense, he has less errors in more games than Drury had. I think we are seeing Torres first for his defense. The kid can pick it out there and has great range, which should help us up the middle. Wade has been such a disaster offensively that we aren’t seeing his defensive benefit and Walker isn’t known to be a good 2b either. I’m intrigued to see how this will work after the entire crew comes back, but I anticipate whomever plays best will keep their jobs
  5. It’s been 3987 games since the sox were no-hit?
  6. Sanchez is good enough behind the dish. The problem is, our pitching has sucked balls. My hope is we figure it out soon and we can put this all behind us. This team is loaded, they need to play like it
  7. Just got back from work. Interesting turn of events. Manaea of all people. Wow
  8. I think the criticism comes with the rest of the 16 draft. Chatham was injured and didn't start out well. He is doing fine in the first half of April to this point, but he is 23 in the lowest long season league. Shaun Anderson was dealt for Eduardo Nunez. He has actually been dominant in the SF system Bobby Dalbec has shown flashes of a good power/OBP combo, but hasn't put it together against like aged foes Shawaryn is probably the best sleeper of the draft and has made it all the way to AA Nogosek has been very good, but he went to the Mets in the Addison Reed deal Ryan Scott isnt progressing Alan Marrero has done nothing Matt McLean has done nothing Espinal has some intrigue but limited upside and production When you think about it, your headliner has been hurt, two high producing picks were dealt away. Youre left with one producing player in Shawaryn and one guy showing potential in Dalbec and thats about it.
  9. Josh Lowe is doing well in High A this year Blake Rutherford was doing well with us an is killing it this year with Chicago Hudson Potts hit 20HR in his first full season last year Taylor Trammell has been very good since his drafting Joey Wentz has been dominant on the mound There were a lot of college players who have done well since their drafting as well. Nobody thinks Groome was a bad pick, just that he hasn't stayed healthy and hasn't progressed
  10. Gray gets burned for nibbling. He’s gotta be better
  11. Not every team is in the northeast
  12. This is how you go 16-2. Your lineup has two guys slumping in Vaz and Bradley. You’ve got a couple guys being right at their typical and you’ve got 5 or so guys surging. At the same time, you start 2018 with two starters on the shelf. You had some fortuitous scheduling to allow for your team to weather it and when they pitched, they were lights out. No starter is slumping. Your closer has been ridiculous. You’re surging right now. My only hope as a Yankee fan is that it stops soon.
  13. I think he’s out of options and you’ve got two guys ahead of him on the pecking order in terms of 6th starter. He’s gonna be down there until his rehab/suspension clock runs out or until there’s a need.
  14. Who knows how long he returns for. He was able to go for 140+IP last year and was our second best starters in the postseason. I'll take that again. The rotation is the same one that got us to Game 7 of the ALCS. The problem is small sample sizes and some early command issues. Sevy has been dominant in 3 of 4 starts. Montgomery has been himself for 2 of 3. Gray has had one good, one poor and one horrible start with lack of command early on. Tanaka has two good and two bad starts so far. CC hasn't given long innings (one start left due to injury, last night due to pitch count coming off injury at 70 pitches and 5IP in first start of season), but he has been effective in his short work. Even with all the inconsistencies and the weather, we are exactly in the middle of the pack in terms of starters ERA in the AL and I anticipate that to improve with the weather. Either way, saying we are taking on water is just dumb. Our starters haven't been great, but they've only knocked us out of a few games themselves. Our pen has been shaky, but you have to figure that'll get turned around. We are going to be 90+ wins this year, bank on it. Your team has started hot, but they're primed to rebound. When they do, we will be there
  15. Robertson is following a long line of Yankee pitchers who can pitch backwards. He couldn't locate the cutter or his 4 seamer, but his breaking ball, he was locating with ease. Fine. I used to go to my breaking ball when I couldn't locate. It forced you to keep your shoulder in longer and would correct your mechanics. Regardless, good Houdini magic. Otherwise, dominant performance from Green, Betances and Chap. Good win
  16. Good win today. The pen was really solid. Robertson nearly blew it but got some key strikeouts. Chapman was over 100mph and was dominant. Green was dominant. CC wasn't terrible in his return from the DL. Judge and Gardy continue to have good ABs. Stanton was making better contact and had good ABs but he was just a bit off on a few mistakes that he should hit out. We absolutely need to bring up Gleyber. Wade has been worse than a pitcher hitting at the plate.
  17. Robertson's turn to blow it. WTF
  18. BTW, it should be Gleyber time. Wade just isn't ready.
  19. Betances has altered his approach. His spin rate dropped down to average and his average FB dropped down to 96 down from 97.5. Now, he is going to that breaking ball to get ahead and is running high fastballs up there to finish guys off. I like the change in approach.
  20. Wright will be "rehabbing" for a full month, then needs to take his 15 day suspension. He can throw in the minors for I think the last 10 days of his suspension to get his innings up. You aren't gonna see Wright until June.
  21. Gleyber is back in the lineup and already hit a double. Acevedo to the DL with blisters.
  22. Sabathia coming off. Drury still getting neuro tests, Cessa and Kahnle on the DL
  23. It’s annoying, but with the wild card around, I’m not too worried. The sox are built for the regular season. Their top 2, when healthy, are top notch. Their 3-5 are better than almost all team’s 3-5 as long as they stay healthy (we can give them a run for their money when we aren’t playing suck baseball). They have a closer who doesn’t blow games. Their offense got better with JD and some guys are bouncing back. They’ll win 95 games or more this year. I think we can be better, so I’m not gonna cry into my beer if we have to fight it out in the WC this year. We have played awful baseball ,had a ridiculous amount of injuries yet we are still .500. We just need our offense to be more consistent (outside of two games, we’ve gotten nothing from All Stars Sanchez and Stanton as well as usually steady Walker.), our starters to attack the zone (far too much nibbling, not sure if it’s the weather that’s throwing their command off), our defense to field the ball and our relievers to remember who they are. We have had a ridiculous start and we are still .500. When the weather warms and all guys get into mid season form, we will string together long win streaks. The question is whether we can catch the sox. I honestly don’t know and the deeper the hole gets, the less likely that becomes
  24. I think there’s a strong chance the sox are 22-5 after the Rays series. That’ll be awful hard to catch with that kind of lead.
