  1. Joe apparently wore on the players and was resistant to the analytic movement. His gaffe in game 2 of the ALDS secured his fate, IMO. Now, the Yanks have one of the best records in baseball right now, so Boone is doing something right. My problem with him is the lack of understanding of a bullpen. He should know a few things by now. KRob’s command is off, so he needs to start a clean inning. Betances cannot go for more than 3 outs. Pitching to Mike Trout with the tying run on base with two outs and an open base is a bad idea. Just standard stuff that most Yankee fans can predict from a mile away.
  2. 3 top 100 prospects for Gray, but two were on the shelf for the season at the time. The other was mercurial Jorge Mateo who has sucked so far this year. Dustin Fowler is in the majors currently, but off to a slow start. James Kaprielian should be about ready to debut after recovering from TJS.
  3. Yes, he made an error. It happens.
  4. Boone is a dolt. Two outs, runner on third and Trout up. Trout hammered two doubles off Gray and Boone lets Gray face him again. What a dick. I cannot stand Boone
  5. Cashman should send Theo a gift basket of sorts. The cubs could use a slick fielding SS who can drop bombs right about now!
  6. Gleyber Torres is the youngest AL player ever to homer in 4 straight games. Incredible what this kid is doing.
  7. Austin is better than Hanley. Bird is better than Hanley. Frazier is better than Hanley. Essentially everyone we have is better than the dreadlocked corpse
  8. They got a middling return, but got free of Span’s contract. Full on blow up from a team In third in the division
  9. If he is not claimed or dealt, his contractual option will not vest no matter who signs him. This isn’t debatable. This is based on the CBA
  10. It does disappear
  11. By DFA’ing him, a grievance is avoided
  12. I don't think Swihart sees a game at 1b aside from getting Moreland rest or if Moreland gets hurt. I'd assume Swihart sees time in LF more than he sees time at 1b
  13. Now that Hanley is gone, I do forsee the sox trying to sneak Swihart into the OF mix. JBJ got a big vote of confidence not being sent down and with Hanley out of the picture, CF is his unless he continues to suck. The other option is to throw Swihart out in LF and move Beni to CF
  14. Correct. His next contract will be completely new and the old contract effectively dies without accrual of further PAs at the end of the season
  15. His loss will be felt vs LH pitchers to some degree, but with JD, Betts and Bogey around, you should be able to get by. The only thing this does is hit your depth on the offensive side and it practically locks JBJ into the starting lineup. You're stuck with him now
  16. I think the idea for a trade was for salary relief and not to return a prospect. Heck, someone may pay $2 mil for Hanley and hope he returns to form, but that option looming kills any chance that happens. This contract dies in a week
  17. Also, he couldn't make more than what he is owed. It's in the CBA. If the Mets came in and wanted to pay Hanley $4 mil for the rest of the year, the sox would only pay him a total of $18 mil. He cannot make more than the $22 mil he is set to make for 2018
  18. If you trade for a player, you assume that player AND his contract.
  19. That wont happen. Whomever trades for him assumes the option for next year. There is nobody who deals for him at all
  20. No, he isn't. Once released, he signs for the prorated portion of the big league minimum and that amount is all that goes off the sox books. Hanley can then sign something for 2019 to his hearts content
  21. Hence you won’t have the cash to get the guys you’re asking about. And they’re also in this predicament because you got the top guy before 2016 and he hasn’t worked out
  22. If he’s snagged off waiver (which there’s no way he will be), then the claiming team assumes the contract and all options going forward
  23. You clearly have little understanding of the MLB’s economics
