  1. Dude, Boone is a f***ing MORON. Torres was safe at 3b and he doesn't challenge?
  2. Ab strain. Couldn't play tonight
  3. Torres is a beast. 1-1
  4. He’s 23 years old. In most systems, he’s a big leaguer, but we have such tremendous depth that he sticks at AAA. Next year is his year. I foresee Gardner moving on and Clint being installed as the LFer
  5. You truly are a moron. “Bust” Frazier is killing it in AAA and is only down there due to depth.
  6. You can’t afford Hamels. The Twins are still in it in the central and their ace is returning soon. You don’t have the prospects for Fulmer. Outside of a Jaime Garcia type, your rotation will be filled internally
  7. Pedroia scratched with knee pain.
  8. The comeback win was awesome, but it hid a little hole in the Stros armor. Morton has been untouchable, but we got to him a bit and limited him to 6IP, which other teams have had trouble doing. Keuchel has been our nemesis, but since the POs last year, we’ve been able to touch him up a bit. We are 5-2 vs HOU this year including 3 of 4 in Houston. They’re still the favorites in the AL, but if they don’t improve that pen (or stick McCullers out there come PO time) we will beat them in a 7 game series
  9. You guys have a knack for playing teams when they’re at their worst, lol. The rays couldn’t do anything first month and are now playing well. The Jays suck in May and you put them down. The O’s swoon started shortly before you guys bludgeoned them. Time for your team to face some real competition tomorrow
  10. Hanley was dealt partly to get Beckett and partly due to his immaturity and antics as a rookie. He didn’t suddenly stop them
  11. Supply and demand. His WAR is high because of the position he plays. If you moved him to LF, he wouldn’t have a high WAR at all. Goes to show you how rare it is to have an asset offensively at the position. If you move on from him, you’re going to see a humongous drop off in production
  12. My bad, guys you’ll need to re-sign. Elvis Andrus got $15 mil AAV a few years ago when he wasn’t even a FA. Xander might not light the world aflame, but he’s a 25 yr old shortstop who’s a 3-5 WAR player every year. He’s gonna see offers around $20-$25 mil a season, easy
  13. What about Xander? Sale? Kimbrel?
  14. How do you continue to be dominant when your kids become expensive? With internal development is the answer
  15. Sheffield has another 4 inning outing with strong results. He seems to be on a 75 pitch count and he needs to be more economical, but his stuff plays out at any level. I am wondering if the Yankees are preparing for him to be a big leaguer this year and they are limiting his innings. Chance Adams has fallen apart. Command is off and he is getting hit around. Not sure what changed on him, but he’s a bit lost. Dalton Lehnen needs to be moved up to High A. He’s dominating A ball
  16. Eierman has been top 10 until the past month. Now he’s mocked to fall out of the first round altogether. Clearly, teams need to draft best available, but when you do your draft list, you have guys listed in groups. If a player falls down to them that they don’t think should fall, then take them. But I don’t think the Sox should be snagging a HSer with athleticism and significant distance between floor and ceiling. If they have guys in the same grouping when their pick comes, they have to prefer getting a “safer” pick. The Sox need someone who can tear through the lower levels and appear to have trade value. With the cliff approaching and expensive players pricing themselves out, the Sox will need to replace those stars and I doubt they’ll be able to develop them by then. But if they collect some assets down on the farm, they may be able to trade for them
  17. Where are they hiding the pine tar?
  18. The difference is that Rusney signed as an “amateur” and didn’t have the same stipulations that the other guys have. If Rusney chose FA, he’d forfeit the contract. The other guys, not the same
  19. We never hit Verlander. German victimized by his defense a bit. Bird swinging the bat well today.
  20. Exactly. And if the Giants, for example, pay him $4 mil, then the Sox are only on the hook for $18 mil.
  21. He isn’t signing for more than the league minimum
  22. DD timed it perfectly. Hanley wasn't producing and was given ample opportunity. His positional value fell far short of the contract. Other options were more appealing than a no position DH who wasn't hitting. He fell far enough short of the option to avoid speculation. I think this is a moot point for the sox. They wont have to worry about a hearing
  23. It's too early to tell who will do much. Beane got 3 guys in the BA top 100, so it isn't like he got stiffs. Fowler is a power hitting CFer with speed who has the ceiling of a 30-30 player. Mateo was converted to CF, but had the bat skills and 80 speed to be a leadoff hitter with league leading SB totals. Kaprielian is the real jewel, IMO. Kap fell victim to the Yankee medical staff. He missed almost all of 2016 with a forearm strain, then pitched in the AFL and looked amazing. With ST starting in 2017, he was diagnosed with a torn UCL and had TJS. The guy has top end stuff with the polish of an ace, he just hasn't been healthy. If all 3 were healthy, Beane wouldn't have gotten all of them, maybe only one.
  24. Callis mocked Groshans to you. I have seen mocks with him higher than this mostly due to his all around game and athleticism rather than sky high ceiling. I don't think this is a good move for a system completely devoid of talent in the upper levels. I think DD goes college all the way unless one of the uber talented prep kids fall. I could see Beer or Hannah in the mix for Boston rather than a HS kid who wont hit prospect circles for 2-3 years. They need a fast mover who can be in AA this time next yr for a trade or groom to take over a spot vacated by departures. He mocked Turang to the Yankees. If this were last yr, I would pinch myself, but Turang has been on the map for so long, that he is starting to cause some prospect fatigue. He also hasn't been as productive as the season before and this could drop his stock. He's an athletic SS whose bat is the biggest question mark. We have plenty of those types in the system, but Turang's potential offensively will dwarf the others guys in system who were picked as glove first guys. It would be a good value pick at this point, but as we are thinning out on the position player side in the middle levels of the system, I would rather see a college bat or bat first HSer like Casas.
  25. This was the best way for DD to do it. If they trimmed his PT and he missed by a few ABs, then a grievance was gonna happen. If they cut him at season’s start, they wouldn’t see if he was truly back to baseline from surgery. They gave him almost two months and cut bait with the option too far away for it to be an issue with the union
