  1. My life is actually pretty awesome, but today kinda sucked. Instead of being in my pool, I was tending to 3 kids with the GI bug. Sometimes, escapes are virtual rather than physical!
  2. I thought Ellsbury's contract was bad. Davis' is incredibly bad
  3. I am surprised the Astros continue to go with Marisnick. Yes, he can defend, but his offense is so otherworldly bad that his overall is terrible
  4. Big time. Really weird. Power pitcher on the mound and a guy in JDM who goes the other way better than anyone.
  5. With Betts out, teams should treat JDM like Bonds circa 2002. I'd walk him every time
  6. This Ori-holes team is absolutely terrible. Their defense has given up. Their offense was built by a blind squirrel. Their rotation was pulled from the HR derby pitching pool. I know Duquette got a lot of love when the O's returned to the playoffs, but he deserves a significant amount of blame for the scorched earth on the field right now and up and down the system. They need a full on rebuild and Peter Angelos to step down
  7. I know Mitch is hitting well, but he isn't really a 1.000OPS hitter. JD is. You have to walk him and go for the DP with Moreland
  8. No way you pitch to JD here
  9. 13 pitches with no outs. This is what the sox must do. You have to get into that pen with a shot to win.
  10. Now I digress. Was I just trolling, absolutely. But that is what you and slasher and a few others were doing as well. I posted a thread about Devers struggles. No new threads on it, no real talking about it except the mention of it in random gamethreads. He has been terrible this season on the whole, which most people won't actually deny. What we are missing here is the ability of posters to actually debate. I anticipate this is due to the millennial influx on the site, the part of the population that would rather destroy a topic they don't agree with or don't want to face rather than debate the issue on its merits. There are some wonderful things about talksox, and what I always was a big fan of were the posters who brought data to back up their point rather than labelling and crying. Maybe we should go back to that simpler time, eh?
  11. Loving it. You have more, don't you?
  12. Ah yes, my favorite. The analyzing of the poster behind a keyboard. Keep em coming.
  13. N to N, you're looking at this the wrong way. Sale is a perfectly fine ace. Price is a perfectly fine mid rotation starter. Your issues in the rotation begin and end with Pom. Your top 4 have been very solid as a squad. Your #5 has been abhorrent. You've got other options, the question is whether Cora goes to them
  14. Feel free to pick it apart. It's called debating. Try it sometime
  15. So sensitive. Pointing out reality is trolling? I find this fascinating.
  16. Stanton with the blast! Big thing here was it went oppo. 4-1 Yanks
  17. Kimmi, I commend your optimism, but the odds are against him. Pedey’s body has been subjected to a lot and it’s crying uncle
  18. Andujar with the blast. 2-1 Yanks
  19. Devers needs to have the luxury of the Gleyber treatment. We have this kid batting 9th and aren't counting on him to glue our lineup together. Maybe Devers is having an issue with the pressure, who knows. The problem is, you team has developed holes the size of icebergs without any solid depth aside from Holt. Nunez has been a bust. The catching tandem has been crappy. Bradley hasn't been good. You don't have the luxury to park Devers in the 9 hole and let him figure it out
  20. The procedure is a wing and a prayer. Some guys do well with it. 75% of people who undergo the procedure note an improvement, but there isn't a measure of how much the improvement is. The improvement might be to walk without pain. Well, to be an elite athlete, the improvement needs to be "back to normal" and there isn't anything quantifiable to say if that's of high likelihood or not. There are some success stories, but there are a lot of failures as well. It seems the younger players do the best with this as it is with most things. Pedroia isn't a young player anymore. If this doesn't work, then he's likely to be on the 60 day and then released next year while counting towards the cap. If this is just some routine inflammation and he returns close to his former self, then great for you. But the possibility is there that this knee will never heal and he will not be able to function as a professional baseball player
  21. $250 mil is light for Harper
  22. Most can learn from you moon. Maybe my topic wasn’t the best thought out, but nobody seems to be talking about a pretty glaring weakness in your order. The kid seems to be scuffling with adjustments. The big leagues are all about adjustments. Guys come up, light the world on fire and then pitchers adjust. It’s how you adjust to their adjustments that keeps you in the league. Devers is a legit all star talent, but talent only gets you so far. He needs to adjust and become more of a professional than just a raw hitter.
