  1. When you subtract Kimbrel and Kelly, you subtract an elite closer and semi reliable pen arm. When you subtract Wright and Johnson and move Velazquez to the rotation, you lose any multi inning depth you had. When you replace them with Brewer and ???, you create a depth problem. This forces guys who aren’t suited for high leverage roles to be pushed into high leverage roles. This is why you saw Hembree in a tied game and Brewer in a tied game only to blow it. You’ve got two reliable pen arms. Walden is showing good signs early, maybe he becomes a third. The rest are a conglomerate of dumpster fires. I know you brought up Lakins. Who knows how he fares. I know you had Hernandez up, but I expect him to go to Portland and work on being a starter. But as of now, if your starter doesn’t go seven and hand over a lead, it’s a crap shoot as to whether you’ll make it to the reliable part of the pen. This is why every win you’ve had has been close.
  2. This team is gritty. Voit is coming into his own as a leader here, mostly because no other leader is still standing besides Gardy. Speaking of him, he’s on fire again. The backups have been clutch and may have built enough equity or be useful not only to help now, but could be useful in deals later
  3. Target is on your back now. Everybody gets up for the defending world champs
  4. German dominant again. Green’s ERA went up again.
  5. He’s gonna miss all of this year and most of next. Turns out, DD dearth Espinosa at the perfect time
  6. He doesn’t want to pitch for cheap. His deal with the Yankees was never gonna get him to the majors. It could have been worth up to $12 mil. He’s gonna have to realize that he’s an aging pitcher who can be at most an effective 4 in a rotation and accept the pay for that position
  7. I would not. I enjoy entire seasons, I do not want to enjoy one and tap out in June in the other
  8. Chris Sale wasn’t Chris Sale, but he was not the problem today.
  9. Note, i said this before Hembree came in
  10. Your pen is a lip sticked pig and you all know it
  11. You don’t get to complain about your lineup. Take a look at the Replacements to the south
  12. If your ace is a 5IP pitcher with your pen the way it is, he’s not going to win many games
  13. Sale found his slider. Location is pretty good. Velocity is as expected, 91-94. He is striking a lot of guys out, but he’s having long AB’s. When Sale is Sale, he’s a good morning, good afternoon, good night kind of pitcher. He’s getting ahead and putting guys away, but he’s not getting some calls and also allowing a fair amount of foul balls.
  14. They sent down Harvey and kept Green on the squad. WTF?
  15. Sale's velocity isn't what it has been and his slider is flat today, excepting the last one he threw
  16. Gio is gonna get a big league deal
  17. They're gonna need another starter behind Velazquez. He's probably limited to a max of 5 innings
  18. He's mostly a 1B now, so who knows. I know he was initially a SS, then a 3B. My assumption is he can cut it there, but I don't know for sure
  19. As far as Sanchez, I’d be entirely fine with him DHing for awhile. No need to kill him behind the plate when what we really need is offense
  20. Dermis Garcia is coming on in a league where power is suppressed. 10 EBH, 6HR in 17 games with a .980OPS and a .313 BA. The kid can crush and he just turned 21. If he keeps this up, he'll be in AA soon
  21. Chap was due for a blown save. He's never really a regularly clean inning guy, but he has the potential to walk three then K three every time he hits the mound. He didn't have it last night from the highlights. So be it. We picked him up. You know, this team is so interesting. We literally have an All-Star NL squad complete with a setup man and closer on the DL C- Sanchez 1B- Bird 2B- Tulo SS- Gregorius 3B- Andujar LF- Stanton RF- Judge CF- Hicks SP- Severino SP- Montgomery SU- Heller CL- Betances That team above wins a playoff spot in every division in baseball and they're on the DL. What the Yanks are showing right now is tremendous grit and depth beyond expected. Cashman needs to get serious kudos for bringing these guys in to back up the squad. Once we start getting healthy, we are gonna be tough to beat. It is mostly a small ball team we have out there. Happ was dominant yesterday. Under 90 pitches through 7 innings and outside of a Lucroy HR, was unhittable. Our pen, sans Chap, was awesome too. Cessa is really grabbing onto the role Green had as a reliever. Strange, because we got the two of them together in the same trade. I continue to advocate for Green to go to AAA on an IL stint and het his s*** right and bringing up Acevedo. Cannot be worse
  22. What a game. I was up into the tenth before I called it quits. It’s rough enough to watch after a shift for 9 innings of west coast baseball. Either way, this rag tag group of nobodies keeps winning games and grinding. They have heart, I’ll give them that. But we do have to add another f***ing injury. Frazier sprained his ankle, although he stayed in there and says he will play through it. Thank goodness, but I’d move him to DH for a game or two and line Wade or Lemahieu up with Gardner and Tauchman our there
  23. He missed 8 weeks with the Rays last year, although the time frame is a bit different as he was coming back from TJS. I’d assume he’ll be out 8-12 weeks. 8 weeks if he comes back in relief, 10-12 as a starter. But let’s not jump the gun. 12 weeks is mid July, so he probably will come back as a starter for the stretch run
  24. We won’t see him til june at the earliest
