  1. That trash lineup just put 3 bombs up in 2 innings against the best pitcher in the NL. Lol, nobody gives our team their due for being in first!
  2. Back spasms. This clears 1b for Chavis
  3. I thought the 9th inning was just another inning, lol! Barnes and Workman has already pitched by the time the 9th came around. Brasier was outmatched by the hitting prowess of Roberto Perez and Greg Allen. Lakins couldn’t throw a strike. Interestingly, Brasier is only 6 of 9 in save situations this year, yet he’s getting the majority of the chances. Maybe the Sox acquire a closer. Maybe they move Barnes to closer. Not sure what the answer is there, but everyone knew the Sox pen would be an issue coming into the year and lately it’s become one. You’re just lucky that the pen had been solid for two months
  4. You saw Pedro and Papi. He’s ahead of one?
  5. Cora rearranged his rotation for the Yankee series. I wish Boone would do that same. With Price throwing less than an inning, he’s good for tomorrow. Instead of Sale Wednesday, Cora goes with Weber and he gets to align Sale, ERod, Porcello, and Price vs NY
  6. Most surgeons won’t replace a joint due to DJD until a person is 50. All fake joints eventually fail and guaranteeing more surgery is a good way to decrease life expectancy
  7. Died of Lewy Body dementia, the end stage of Parkinson’s. RIP. 69 years old
  8. Betances threw a BP today without issue, soon to go on a rehab assignment if the arm feels good tomorrow. Sabathia is already throwing and expected to miss the minimum 10 days. He is likely to start vs the Sox on Sunday. Paxton is expected to return Wednesday vs the Padres
  9. Look at the AL and tell me if anyone has a tough schedule. In the AL, 6 of the 15 teams are over .500. 2 are at .500. Yes, we played the O’s a ton, but we haven't played Toronto yet either and we have what, 18 or 19 vs them? The crazy thing is, in this division, we will play 38 games vs .500+ teams. We will play the same amount with abysmal squads. The Twins and Astros look like the cream elsewhere with the Yanks already playing them once already. The inter league schedule looks awful as well with the NL East being abysmal
  10. Pedroia admitted today that his knee may not allow him to play again. A player who is deemed medically unfit to play does not need to rehab and try to come back. They can be released and the contract will still count, but the player won’t be counted as a member of the 40 man through the winter when 40 man spots can get tight. This happened with David Wright and Prince Fielder. Neither player was forced to give up cash and neither player was forced to try to play. This might end up being the way Pedroia goes
  11. It has literally no effect on the lux tax. The yanks were on the hook for the $27 mil AAV through the end of 2017
  12. German has nothing. The offense bounces back late and the ball ends up bouncing over our 3b for the winning hit. So be it. On to beating the Pads
  13. You’re jumping to a conclusion that is impossible. You continue to spout this garbage that cannot work. It is against the CBA to intentionally subvert the lux tax. You cannot do it. Period
  14. Our farm slipped in the rankings because backup options like Frazier and German lost rookie eligibility and Estrada was coming off a gunshot wound. Turns out all 3 would have been phenomenal assets and probably would have skyrocketed us into the top 10 due to ceiling and proximity.
  15. Our pen has been good when we need it to, but so had the Sox pen. The difference for us is we are getting great offense out of our replacements and have gotten really good starting pitching out of our big replacement in German. The crazy thing this injury fluke has created is trade buzz. Other teams are going to want these guys. When Stanton and Judge return, I bet the Yanks send Frazier down to get regular ABs. When Didi returns, Estrada will head out to AAA to get regular AB’s. When CC, Severino, and Paxton return, who the hell knows what happens. No way we are sitting German or Tanaka. Happ probably goes to the pen, which would be a good thing for us to keep that third year from vesting.
  16. You guys are hilarious! Pedroia took a frickin discount to sign back with the Sox. He’d have either made the same amount over a shorter contract or made a higher total amount over the same time frame had he gone to market. Now you want him to give up two years of lottery money because he got hurt? That’s funny. And to consider him a flawed person who should “do the right thing” and retire and forgo the big payday is something nobody on this board would do. Cut the crap.
  17. Verlander vs ERod today should be interesting. The Yanks go with German vs the only real pitcher the Royals have in Duffy. The Rays throw an opener against Bauer. It’s at least lining up on paper to be a good day for the Bombers!
  18. Adams got screwed last night. He allowed 0ER if I was the official scorer. Gardner drops a ball at the wall after overrunning the play. Then Gardner doesn’t see a ball and it falls right behind him. Frazier drops a ball in RF then fires the ball at Romine who inexplicably comes up to get the ball, jumps, lunges back and misses the tag on a play that should have been an easy out. Heck, Green gave up a run on a fly ball that should have been caught by Frazier. Our OF defense last night was atrocious. Throw in the unearned run in the 9th off a Chapman error and we should have had 5 unearned runs last night, yet we still win
  19. Break out the brooms! 8 games up in the L column on the defending champs!
  20. JH is the principal owner but far from the only investor. He has to make money overall or at least make the investors happy with rising franchise valuations. He cannot just drive the bus down a money pit and expect everyone else with skin in the game to be happy about it, win, lose or draw
  21. All of us near 40 or older can relate. I can get all ready, go out and give it my all on a baseball field once a week. If it tried to play 3-4 games in a row, my body won’t handle it. It’s just the way it is. Dustin has an old man’s injury and now is an old man. Time to realize this. Either activate him as a true backup who can only play every other game at most, or shelve him permanently. He’s never coming back to FT duty
  22. Paxton was lights out in his EST start striking out 7 and walking 1 in 4 innings, but he said he still feels something in the knee. He said if he wakes up today and feels the same as when he walked in yesterday, he’ll play through it. If it feels worse, he’ll “take care of it”. That’s somewhat ominous to me. Make it sound like there’s something in there like a meniscal tear that he’s trying to play through. Keuchel is still out there and come June 2, won’t have a pick attached to him. If Paxton needs to be fixed, then snag Keuchel for a season and roll
  23. Hard to win in Houston when your defense can’t field for s***. Sale deserved better
  24. I bet you he isn't a Red Sox next year. The sox will need his money and they are fully aware that his defense is slipping. My bet is they tender him if he shows some signs of life then deal him off. If he doesn't hit, he will be non-tendered as you said. I think this is the last year you see JBJ patrolling the Fens
  25. When I start seeing him pumping 98-99 in the warmer weather, then I'll believe it. He still hasn't shown me that he has that top gear. Then again, at 95, he is extremely effective
