  1. You have to be f***ing kidding me. Wild pitch? What the hell
  2. Ottovino is cooked. Why the f*** is he in this game??? f*** you Boone!
  3. Why the ever living f*** is Boone putting Ottovino in against Springer. What is wrong with you???
  4. We are on Cole. Made him work harder than he’s worked in months and we still get no f***ing runs. Sevy was ok. Cole has to be coming out. Can we hold them and see our offense get a few? Hope so
  5. I called that and damn, I was right!
  6. So it’s looking more and more like a rainout on Wednesday. That is a 100% win for the Astros. The more I look at this, this would be the outcome 10-14 Severino vs Cole 10-15 rainout 10-16 Tanaka vs Greinke 10-17 Bullpen vs Bullpen 10-18 Paxton at Verlander 10-19 Severino at Cole The reason why this is absolutely horrible for the Yanks is that a rainout in game 4 puts the Yanks on 4 straight games. If this thing goes 7, our pen will be horribly overworked and we’ll have Sevy on the mound. The lost off day also means zero chance of Tanaka coming back in game 7 as anything but an inning or two pitcher.
  7. Should I book that with your back to back to back to back prediction for the ALE this year?
  8. That’s true as well. But I’d be shocked if Rice played even close to Betts level defensively.
  9. Betts is better than Rice. He’s averaging 7 WAR since his career started. Rice had 50 WAR thru his career. Betts is at 35. If Betts keeps up the pace, he’ll match Rice’s WAR before he turns 30. Looking at Rice’s career, it’s a wonder he made the HOF.
  10. There are definitely players who left effort on the table after getting paid. Those guys owe something to their franchise.
  11. It’s supposed to rain Wednesday. That would throw a wrench into things. It would allow the Yanks and Stros to use their game 1 matchups in game 4 on full rest. It would probably hurt the Yanks more than help, though. Yes, we’d get Tanaka and would have him on 3 days rest and Sevy on full rest for Game 7, but losing the off day after what would have been a pen game would lead to a ton of pen fatigue.
  12. Probably depends on game 3. Heck, maybe Tanaka goes game 4 if we lose. Tanaka is terrible on short rest.
  13. As with every negotiation, you're not just doing it for yourself. The goal is to set things up for the guys after you. And let's be honest, Mookie owes the sox nothing. He has been mostly a pay for performance player who got paid league minimum for 3 yrs and has to this point put up 37.2WAR in his 5+ seasons of control to this point. Maybe he aspires to own a team one day. Significant capital is needed for that venture. Who knows, but you cannot begrudge him for seeing what he's worth on the open market. We all should do it for what we do. His dollar figures are just on a far larger scale
  14. This sounds like one final attempt to drum up interest before a non-tender. I honestly don't know how the sox could look their team straight in the face and say they're cutting payroll then pick up essentially a $12 mil option on a guy who should be a 4th OFer. There are two potential scenarios here that I predict. The sox deal JBJ prior to the tender date for a similarly underperforming pitcher still in the arb process or he is cut. I doubt anyone offers anything of value for 1 yr of JBJ at $12 mil A nontender
  15. There's an "ace" and a postseason ace. Sale had always been an "ace" but by the time the postseason rolled around, he was too tired to be effective and generally sucked. I also find it interesting that a guy like Tanaka can be about as mediocre as one can be during the season, but once the bright lights come on, he channels his inner Greg Maddux. Some guys are built differently. Verlander is one of them. The bright lights don't affect him.
  16. It is easy to second guess. But it wasn't until they showed the graphic of Springer's dominance vs breaking balls this year that really got me scratching my head. I know Springer used to suck vs breaking balls, but he hit .323 vs them this year. I understand you may want to go to a new pitcher to keep Green fresh for games 3 and 4, but why go to your breaking ball pitcher vs a guy who crushes breaking balls?
  17. Never. Tanaka is a guy who operates very well on extra or full rest. Absolutely no way I bring him back on short rest. Not a prayer. He goes game 5 and is in the pen for a game 7. We need another pitcher to step up in a starting role. I am hoping Sevy can build off his start in the clincher vs Minn to keep us in it vs Cole.
  18. I'd rather the players get millions than the owners pocketing that money. The owners make billions off the player's backs, I have no issue with them trying to get as much of it as they can. I do have issue with the owners putting in a lux tax to cap their expenditures and have zero floor provisions. The teams spending the least amount of money also get revenue sharing. They're being subsidized to suck and their owners are taking the money right to the bank
  19. One thing I will never understand is why Boone is such a soldier for analytics but doesn't use them in crunch time. The HR to Springer never should have happened. Green is absolutely dominating and he gets pulled for Ottavino to face Springer. Ottavino has been cold of late, but also, he's a slider guy who has a good 2 seamer to complement. Springer was 3rd in baseball in BA vs breaking balls. Why bring in your breaking ball pitcher to face one of the best breaking ball hitters in all of baseball? Sounds like a bad combo. Otherwise, I thought the game was well managed. I would like to advocate for a change behind the dish. Sanchez is a great player and I know the Yanks have needed to hope he could break out, but man he is clueless right now. His approach absolutely sucks. Take cockshots, chase pitches off the dish. He's too hot and cold for us to be carrying him as a liability against this team. We need someone who is at least a consistently average player who can do the little things like move runners over, bunt, make contact when needed, etc. And he is an upgrade behind the dish.
  20. Lol, they’re afraid. Either way, we took Verlander’s best and matched him with our pen. We took 1 in Houston and nearly beat them in game 2. Now we go home. Cole is dominant. But so is this pen. We win tomorrow and this series is over IMO. We lose tomorrow and this thing is gonna go 7
  21. Chap only comes back for a lead. That's it. No need burning him out if he doesn't have a lead to protect.
  22. Weird approaches by our hitters today. Too patient in hitters counts. Too aggressive early. Very strange. We are entirely out of sorts offensively
  23. I have to question our offensive approach. We are getting up 2-0 and taking a total cockshot. On 2-0, we should be swinging at cockshots. Why take 2-0 then swing like a moron on 2-1
  24. Green was unhittable and he goes to Ottavino, who is scuffling. Gonna need Tommy tight pants for the 6th. Then split Britton and Chap for the 7-9
  25. Every one of the years you rebuilt, your farm was already good. This year is different. Also, every year of your rebuild saw a major drop-off in committed payroll, which wont be the case next year Yes, the Yankees stayed mediocre and spent like maniacs. But their "rebuild" was in their handling of farm assets. You remember how the Yanks operated previously, right? Minor leaguer with a pulse, deal them off for now assets. Well, that changed when we got eliminated by Detroit. It took 4 years and a sell off to rebuild through mediocrity starting with bloated contracts and a poor farm system. It was augmented by spending and adding to the team. This is the current example that the sox will follow. They will try to stay relevant. They will still hand out contracts. They will eventually sell off. Their fastest return to glory using that route was shown by the Yanks at 4 years. Our farm was already really good when we blew it up. The narrative that the rebuild was only due to dealing off assets is pure fiction. Judge, Andujar, Sanchez, Sevy, Montgomery were all in our system. The sell off allowed us to add Torres, Frazier and Sheffield (plus others) which allowed us to strengthen our position. But our farm was already really good when we sold off
