  1. agreed. We shall have to wait and see.
  2. just saw that. My bad. The closer they got was also a top 10 prospect, which is what I wanted to convey.
  3. This isnt a good move for the Yankees. This is a fabulous move for the yankees. Humberto Sancez was actually rated in some publications as a better prospect than Phil Hughes. He, Hughes, and Homer Bailey are the three prospects in big league baseball who have been interchanging the title of "best minor league prospect". Add to that the closer who was a op 10 in the tigers system, and oh yeah he is a lefty who throws gas and the other guy who has been very good as well. This is a true coup by Cashman and a sure sign that the balance of power has shifted in the NY front office. They now have a minor league pitching corps that is rivalled by none. Good work cashman.
  4. http://www.dfw.com/mld/dfw/sports/15978344.htm Looks like the Rangers made a major bid, potentially over 30 mil. That is all that is known.
  5. It looks like the Yankees are in serious discussions with the Tigers. The Yankees do not want to move him within the AL, but if what the paper is reporting is true, then the yankees cannot pass it up. Humberto Sanchez or Nate Robertson for Shef? That is a steep price.
  6. read the post man. Cora got a lot of playing time at the end of the season and he was awful.
  7. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/6155678 I wonder what they are getting here.
  8. I am a ND fan, so it is best for my team for Rutgers not to jump, but this isnt right. Rutgers is in a BCS conference and they are one of three undefeateds from BCS conferences. If they go undefeated in a BCS conference and dont get to play for the championship because a 1 loss team from the SEC gets a shot, then it is wrong, flat out wrong. Have a f***ing playoff.
  9. congrats to Rutgers.
  10. Contreras was a completely different animal. He was a free agent. Matsuzaka is in the Japanese league. It may cost the sox or whomever gets his the amount that Contreras signed for just to talk to Matsu. Huge difference.
  11. he is expected to get a 3 yr deal in the range of 10 mil a yr with an agreement that he will not be offered arb at the end of the contract. Hence he will be a FA with no strings attached at 29, and if he is an ace, then he will be able to collect for a 6-7 yr deal at max dollars.
  12. I have scoured the NYYFans sites and the rangers sites. Dont believe any of it. I'll wait.
  13. Here I am, sitting, watching this wonderful game with Louisville and Rutgers and I am thinking that neither of these teams will have a chance at playing for the title. If Louisville wins and goes undefeated, and the Michigan-OSU game is close, then I dont think the rankings will change. That means Louisville will not get to #2 in the BCS. On the flipside, if Rutgers wins this game and goes undefeated, they will not even have a prayer of making the championship. I find this utterly wrong in every facet, that a team from a BCS conference can go undefeated yet get beaten out for the championship by another team from a BCS conference who will have at least one loss. This is wrong, it should be considered criminal, and it has to get fixed. This dilemma could conceivably bring about the death of the BCS and bring about a championship. It is about goddamn time.
  14. this has to be one of the dumbest moes I have ever seen. The guy had 3 yrs 33 mil left on the deal, and NOBODY will give him that much $$ again. He is guaranteed to be on the DL for a third of every season and I dont think he would be any better than Nixon in RF.
  15. He compares to a Iguchi more than a matsui. He'll be a guy who should hit in the .280 range with 15-20 bombs.
  16. I do find it hard to believe that Theo would put a 28 mil bid on the table especially after watching Damon and Pedro walk over less than one seventh of that amount.
  17. I dont know a damn thing. I am only scouring other sites seeing what they are saying. This will leak, I will guarantee you that. It just depends on wich leak is credible.
  18. I have seen the rumors. There is one that the Rangers won the bid with a 25 mil bid. There is one that the yankees won the bid at 27mil. There is another that the sox won the bid at 28mil. One thing seems known for sure, and that is the Cubs didnt win....or did they?
  19. It may have been a closed bid, but things leak all the time. I would not be surprised if the yankees won the bid.
  20. Matsuzaka's bidder finish their bidding at 5pm today. I am not sure when they will announce the winner, but this is certainly like an early hot stove treat to see who gets what some are calling the best FA pitcher in a long time (total package of age and talent). If anyone sees the winner please post here. I think this guy will be dynamite.
  21. the bid is expected to be in the 5-10 mil range with the potential for it to go higher if the cubbies jump into the fray. I am wary of Japanese power hitters, but this guy has the total package it seems. High K rate to me means that he'll be slow to adjust, but talent eventually wins out, and he could be a good one.
  22. An we are all talking like Lugo is a foregone conclusion. There are suitors in NY and Toronto who may outbid the conservative Theo. Imagine, Gonzo leaves for a long term contract, something he wont get from the sox, and the sox lose out on Lugo and Soriano. That leaves a MI of Cora and Pedroia. Yuk. Also, imagine if Lowell and Youk are the corners on that lineup, double yuk.
