  1. The Mutts are going for it again this year, so I doubt they move Thor when they’ve got that top 3. Then again, they had a better top 3 when Wheeler was there, so who knows. The Yanks rotation is suddenly deep and staunch at the top. We have a reinforcement in German (whose suspension should buy us another year of team control) coming mid season and all he did was win 19 games before his suspension last year. Montgomery is going to be huge in determining our future. If JMont comes back as an innings eating 3WAR+ pitcher, then we likely let Paxton walk at season’s end and roll with Cole-Sevy-German-JMont plus likely re-signing Tanaka at a lower rate. If JMont is the 1/4 of pitcher who are never the same after TJS, then we will have to go harder into the market or entrust our 5th spot in 2021 to a rookie. I’m hoping for big things out of Gumby
  2. I’d purge anyone with two years of control or less who aren’t willing or aren’t good enough to extend.
  3. Ol Rog was 42. This is a 29 yr old horse in his prime. And no, he wasn’t great in Pittsburgh, mostly because they turned him into a sinkerballer. In Houston, he utilized that 4 seamer and was far more effective. I have a feeling it’s gonna be a “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” kind of style going forward
  4. Our domers had a nice bowl win vs a team that had no business being on the field with them. 10-2 and only losses are to ranked teams and you stuff them in the camping world bowl with an unranked opponent. F U bowl committee
  5. Exactly. Yeah, he faced Joe Ross in the matchup, but he faced the WS winning lineup and shut them down. Cole was a stud in 2019, nobody can dispute that
  6. Everything I have read is that the dodgers will not deal Ruiz, Smith, May, Urias or Lux. Gonsolin, Downs, and Gray are in play
  7. He doesn't have much of a choice. MLB is punishing this far harsher than in the past. And they should, these are prime athletes who could kill someone with a punch. They shouldn't be hitting women
  8. That’s more a reflection of their manager
  9. Game 1 of the WS was his first loss since May
  10. Gonsolin for Betts is a win. That guy is a stud. Stripling adds a low cost back end start, allowing you to deal off Price for scraps. Pollock slides into RF. That would definitely be a win
  11. Let’s be realistic in this thread, as it is the “realistic view of 2020” thread. Is Bloom playing this offseason like he’s going for it? Clearly not. If he was going for it, he wouldn’t have let Porcello walk and replaced him with a cheaper pile of horseshit that’s less durable. Holt walked and he’s replaced with a versatile but far less offensively gifted pile of s*** in Peraza. Are the Sox a championship caliber squad? The Sox were an 84 win team. They got smoked by two teams in the division and the top team just added the best pitcher in baseball. They’re paring payroll while the AL is getting far tougher. So no, barring a fountain of youth appearing in Fenway, this team is not championship caliber Do the Sox think Mookie will give them a discount? He has said many, many times that he wants to hit the open market. He’s done nothing to come off that mountain. So my bet is Mookie signs with the highest bidder after 2020 So if the Sox aren’t actively upgrading their roster and they aren’t already championship caliber then why the hell would you hang onto Mookie, especially when he’s given every indication that he’s going to sign with the highest bidder in FA? Deal him for the best return and if you want him back, don’t be outbid after 2020
  12. If Mookie is true to his word and is taking his talents to the market, then allowing him to walk for literally nothing while fielding a clear substandard team is just dumb. If 2020 is a bridge year, then Mookie needs to be moved for the highest bid. It’s that simple. If the market will dictate where Mookie signs and you want him long term, then be the biggest offer
  13. Sox haven’t punted a season before a season in recent memory. This is the first year where after an underachieving season, the Sox did nothing that I can remember
  14. You’re not getting May, Urias, Ruiz, or Lux. The Dodgers aren’t moving off that stanchion. They’ve got enough talent on the big league or minor league level to make some moves and to take on Betts, Bloom will just have to be creative in who he takes
  15. He finished the year healthy last year, so yes he should have a normal off season and will compete for the 5 spot. With German out likely into the summer, I expect JMont to win the job out of ST
  16. That’s wrong. I’d rather it have been PEDs, but it was domestic violence
  17. I never understood the man love for Leon. DD paid him $2.2 mil last year. Plawecki is a fine backup. Saving $1.3 mil was a smart move
  18. If Bloom moves Mookie, I’m telling you right now, nobody will be pleased with the return. You’re not getting Lux, May or Ruiz. You’re not prying Smith from them. You may get Seager. You may get Maeda. You may get Chris Taylor and some minor leaguers you never heard of. But it’ll work out if history says anything about Bloom’s teams
  19. The talk is ratcheting up because the Dodgers won’t give Lux for Lindor. They’re shifting focus
  20. This isn’t surprising. Good to see him punished. This will likely render him a minor leaguer into July. The suspension will carry into June. He’ll be allowed to play in the minors 15 days before his suspension ends. He will need a month to get up to speed
  21. Any further team additions are either scrap heap types or low budget trades, so he shouldn’t have to clear much salary to make additions. Whether they are upgrades or not remains to be seen
  22. He’s on a one year deal. Eovaldi could be an albatross for three seasons
  23. Now that the other options are off the board, you might see some movement. But beware, you’re probably not going to like any of the deals Bloom makes up front, but he seems to win most of them in the end
  24. Dr Bouquette is a problem. He’s an EM doc, like me. Yet he went down the non sanctioned route treating environmental exposures and “inflammation” with unregulated and frankly dangerous treatments based on poor or non existent data. Here is a GA board of Med censure of him. https://www.casewatch.net/board/med/bouquette/order.shtml Chelation therapy is incredibly important in toxic overdoses. Chelation for bogus reasons can have bad outcomes. I’d be really surprised if the Yanks allowed this doc to treat him. Now, if Ells consulted with this guy and never got treatment, then he should be paid. If he received any treatments, then the Yanks have a case
  25. The only World Series perfect game was thrown by him, he died today at the age of 90 from esophageal cancer. RIP
