  1. at the beginning of the yr, MANY people picked the sox to win the WS in 04. Then they lost out to the yankees for the top seed and then shocked the world by coming back from an umprecedented deficit. Now all the colts have to do is absolutely destroy the Bears and the similarity will be striking.
  2. agreed Kilo. He is the furthest away because of how raw he is.
  3. the similarities are astounding. Best team of the decade, choking away a big, HISTORIC lead to a nemesis who always falls in head to head vs them. The Colts are the football version of the 04 sox. Therefore, the Pats just made the football choke of the century.
  4. there was a "rumor" of a deal. At the same time, the Stros probably asked for Hughes or Tabata which is a big no-no in a deal. The sox were a little more desperate at the time. Right now, it is straight cash, not even a loss of a pick.
  5. http://www.nypost.com/seven/01232007/sports/yankees/canos_no__22_to_rog___if_____yankees_michael_morrissey.htm The Yankees have asked Robby Cano to switch his number from 22 to 24. #22 is the # that Rog had in the bronx and are hoping to do everything to woo Roger to NY. Interesting.
  6. The NBA is a bad league. College BBall is where its at.
  7. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2738902 I dislike the Pats as a team, but they have some very respectable players. Bruschi is one of them. If he walks away, he will be one of the best warriors to ever play the game. 3 SB wins, 4 appearances and a stroke overcome. Walk away Tedy, there is nothing left to prove. Everyone should raise a Brewski to Bruschi. Here here. And here is to hoping you spend some time with your family before you get snapped up as an announcer or coach.
  8. call it what you want. Then he was a loser until last yr.
  9. An inconsistent slider is not excellent. It is both inconsistent in movement and in location. It has potential, but it has a long way to go.
  10. Cashman was a puppet GM for most of his tenure in NY. He doesnt have a long track record to go on.
  11. and he traded away Mike Jacobs for Delgado, which looks like a damn good trade right now.
  12. Minaya did not deal away Kazmir. Steve Phillips did.
  13. and for those of you who like to point out my bias, I am a firm believer in AA being the biggest jump in talent in the minors. Therefore, it is a huge hurdle for talent to get hung up on. Once you get by AA, the chances of succeeding in the majors jump significantly.
  14. Bosox, you also have to consider who you will have in that rotation, though. Matsuzaka, Beckett, and Papelbon will be there for awhile and you still have Lester. Buchholz has an ETA of mid 08- early 09. Bowden has an 09 ETA. Bard's will likely be later if he stays a starter. You are talking about finding spots for these kids. 1 of the three are likely to fail before they hit AA or while at AA. Another is likely to have trouble latching on at the MLB level. That leaves one out of the 3, IMO that will actually make the club and latch on, if you go by the statistics. The point being, you have a gaping hole in the closers role. You could package one of these kids together with WMP or Hansen or both to nab a closer. You just dont want to make the wrong choice.
  15. pinstripe potentials. scout.com's will come out in a week or so.
  16. If this article was written a yr ago, I'd agree with Epstein's rating. But the fact that his team exploded last yr, coupled with the fruits of horrible trades becoming ripe for other teams and a farm that is devoid of MLB ready talent should drop him a little. I agree with Cashman's rating. We have no idea what has been his move or what wasnt up until a yr ago when he wrestled control away.
  17. good point. They did.
  18. no clue, I am not smart enough to place my money well.
  19. when the sox came back to beat us, I rooted heavily for the cards. I can understand if you want to root for Chitown.
  20. it was a FANTASTIC GAME. So many people use hyperbole for great comebacks. But most of the time, one team melts and the other team surges. The Pats were still scoring in the second half, hell they scored 13 points in the second half, which is not paltry. But the Colts had just a little more. WHAT A GAME!!!
  21. Largest comeback EVER in a Conference championship game. WOW.
  22. No more bullets in the chamber for Brady. GREATEST GAME OF THE YR!!!
  23. Brady is doing it again. Hey Dungy, you do know the PREVENT defense PREVENTS you from WINNING!!!
