  1. Uggla is at the head of that list simply because he never did it before. He was let go by the dbacks because he was terrible and all of a sudden put together on hell of a season out of nowhere.
  2. after watching Oden score at will on a 7'2" lottery pick, I would think Doc would be tanking games from here on out. Oden is a manchild and should be the face of Boston for yrs to come. You know, the celts have always taken a backseat to everything else Boston even when they were winning. If Oden comes to town, the media frenzy will be enormous and I wouldnt be surprised if basketball becomes the second sport of Boston. I'd start watching games again, I know that.
  3. it is funny. I hate almost all of the Boston teams, but I like the Celtics and like Boston as a city a hell of a lot more than NYC. Very strange.
  4. He was a respectable man too. I had a ton of respect for Teddy. 2 tours of duty and just may have been the best hitter that ever lived. The fact that the sox didnt have him be the face of the front office or be the toast of Boston is beyond me. As good as Papi is, Teddy was world's better. It kinda reminds me of the treatment of Manny. Once in a generation talent who gets crucified for wiping his ass a certain way. What else do you want?
  5. Durant is doing well in school too. I like these guys and hope they do well. And I hope Oden does well in Celtic green. BTW, if Ainge gets the pick and passes up Oden or Durant, will he be dropped from the pru and his lifeless body be hung for all to see in Quincy Market?
  6. you are correct sir. You bet your ass that if Teddy ballgame was still around and they told him he couldnt sit in the dugout, he'd take a big s*** on the commissioner's desk and then punch the guy in the face.
  7. no kidding, I was real surprised at how fast and quick he was. And he's a class act. He isnt a f***ing thug like a lot of these *******s are. Like OJ Mayo will be. He's a quiet, unassuming kid with a world of talent. Easy to root for.
  8. Oden was great in the second half. He abused Hibbert down low and rebounded like a fiend late. I still think he is the number one overall pick. Something tells me he will be a top 5 player in the game in short order.
  9. Josh Towers has locked up the Jays 5th starter spot. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/spring2007/news/story?id=2820433 Homer party for everyone! This will guarantee the Jays 3rd place.
  10. Oden sat out the first half then came back and dominated Hibbert offensively. I thought Oden would be better defensively, though, as Hibbert was able to abuse him for points right back.
  11. Kazmir will be tough, but just like our lineup, we'll be feasting on that soft middle relief by the 6th inning.
  12. Yeah, but Houston had his best friend and familiarity. Without Pettitte, the stros are going to be double digits down and floundering when Roger makes his decision. If Houston makes a competetive offer, he probably accepts it. But I think they are sick of being held hostage. I dont think Houston offers anything near what the northeast teams will offer.
  13. and we got Sheffield who was very solid for us until he got hurt. Yeah, I'd rather have Vlad, but that isnt a mistake that will haunt us. The mistake that haunted us was the dissolution of our rotation in 2003. That still haunts us as guys like Vazquez and Brown never would have been acquired and the talent we gave away could have been held onto for a bigger chip.
  14. and with Paps moving back to the closers role, the gap has gotten slimmer.
  15. No way. The yankees will come in 6th in the entire AL. The Jays will be right around the same as the yankees simply because their 4 and 5 holes are absolutely terrible and the sox will have better numbers in the rotation most likely since they have stability in the 4 hole and we dont know what Igawa or Pavano can give. To be honest with you, our rotation may have Hughes and Clemens in the rotation come playoff time, so as long as the yankees eat innings in the rotation, I can live with whatever guy takes the bump.
  16. I actually dont know how. But I think I'll pass.
  17. he could be. Or he could be a league average pitcher in terms of ERA and be hit or miss every time out. Sorry dude, Beckett was about as hit or miss as they come last yr and nothing to this point will change that.
  18. this is such a boring game.
  19. and you could have Anibal Sanchez in the rotation while having Hanley instead of Lugo at SS. And Andy Marte at 3b would be nice.
  20. You put Pedro out there on day 1, you take back home field.
