Red Sox designated RHP J.D. Durbin for assignment. As anticipated, the Red Sox didn't have any intention of using Durbin now after claiming him off waivers on Monday. They'll hope he clears waivers and reports to Triple-A Pawtucket. Red Sox activated Mike Timlin from the DL After missing the first 2 series, the old guard, Mike Timlin will be ready to take the ball in the middle innings. Red Sox option Javier Lopez to AAA Lopez threw 3 scoreless innings, but had another option, so the sox used it.

every pitcher makes mistakes. Pavano made sure they werent against the M and M boys or Cuddyer. He pitched those guys very well. As for knowing the opponent, I am just saying, that knowing the twins lineup is stacked 3-5 and weak everywhere else, he worked those guys hard and left some cookies to the other guys and got away unscathed.

I think Beckett has a bit of a rocky start today. He wont get lit up, but he doesnt see the 6th and the sox middle relief gets put on display at the home opener in the freezing cold.

as for your first question, not really. They could be chomping at the bit and be ready for him. Who knows. Baseball is a strange game.
