  1. if you want a bat that will last you more than 3 or 4 days, you pay 40 for it. You want a bat that even the worst hitter wont break, spring 75 bones for a maple bat.
  2. Not right away. I said Matsuzaka dominated the royals and they had no chance. Then Pavano dominated the Twins and someone was demeaning it with "Minny isnt a top 5 offense." So I sent it back. There are times when you watch a game and say, wow, he is lucky he isnt facing a better lineup. And to a degee, Pavano's start was like that. Pettitte's wasnt. He would have dominated anyone today, he was that good.
  3. it is. Doesnt take away from Pettitte's outing though. You'll get your chance in his next start.
  4. No, but for a HS, you buy 2 metal bats a season at 150 bucks a pop. You wont break them. For the wood, you buy maybe 50 at 40 bucks a pop and then have to order more when your kids are turning the lumber into kindling.
  5. I wasnt the one tossing that around. I retaliated with it when someone decided to use that for Pavano's last outing. And this is 2 teams in a row in their stadium that Pettitte has ripped.
  6. You take a lot more positives out of this game than negatives, even though I feel like I have been kicked square in the nutsack. Pettitte was brilliant. His first inning was a bit shaky, but Derek's error led to that debachle. After that he was just straight money. He's got it again, that fire and he came back with better control and better offspeed stuff. He is gonna be tough so long as the location is there. ARod is absolutely crushing the ball. A double and then the long sac fly that was nearly gone. He keeps getting bloody noses though, a little coke in the morning? Proctor finally looked like Proctor. He threw hard, had the curve working and was untouchable. So in all, aside from Mo's occasional meltdown (call him the teflon closer) which occurs every april, this was a positive game. Hate the outcome, hate how it took me from the brink of relief to the pain of defeat, but it was a good game nonetheless. Now if the yanks can actually play a few days without having an offday, I'll be happy. 2 scheduled days off in 5 days is ridiculous.
  7. What people dont get is the cost entailed with wooden bats. Each bat is 40-75 bucks a pop. And including batting practice, you are talking probably 100 bats that will hit the shredder for a 20 game season and 6 weeks of workouts. This is due to the kids not knowing how to swing them either. When you swing a wooden bat, your hit zone decreases. In order to save the cost, you dont go after the outside corner pitches or swing at the inside pitches unless you have 2 strikes and most kids wont even know that you are supposed to hit with the label facing towards you (most kids spin it at the dish). And if you switch an entire high school team to wood, you are accruing serious costs, costs so high that they may be prohibitive for inner city schools from pursuing the sport altogether. Keep the metal in high school. Take it away in college.
  8. wow, painful loss. Oh well, we did everything we could do. Sometimes Mo blows em, tip your cap and move on.
  9. NO DOUBLES DEFENSE PLZ!!
  10. Mo having a bit of trouble with his location right now.
  11. I see. Weather.com and your link are in disagreement.
  12. If we dont burn out Proctor this yr, he should be dynamite. The heat was back and that curve to Piazza just was not fair.
  13. weather.com is saying showers until 9pm. At least it did a few hours ago.
  14. Kielty didnt have a chance.
  15. ARod is f***ing crushing the ball today. Sac fly caught as Swisher crashes into the wall. 4-2 yankees.
  16. BJ Ryan out with an elbow strain. Andrews will see him in Alabama. This does not sound good at all.
  17. Rich Harden was DOMINATING the yankees today. That was until he pulled up lame again and left with shoulder tightness. Never good and continually bringing up the question, "Can this guy ever stay healthy". Lots of talent, too bad.
  18. That was very nice to see. Get a few and this becomes easy.
