  1. Final line, 6IP 1ER 2H 4K 2BB
  2. He wont opt out.
  3. Last yr, through 3 games, Beckett was filthy. He had a LOWER ERA last yr at this point (1.28). Once he got hit around, the rest is history. This will be his game to make it or break it.
  4. I think that would set a record or two. Dunno.
  5. Arod is on pace to be the MVP. 3 more HR than the next and twice as many RBI as the next highest AL guy.
  6. 14 by Pujols.
  7. any time you can add a lefty with a nice MiLB track record, then you are doing something good. Have left arm, will travel.
  8. Ohlendorf dealing right now. 4IP 1ER 3K 1H 1BB. He has had some serious control issues thus far this season after walking only 29 in 185 innings last yr. If he can return to his previous control/innings eating ways, then he will emerge as our most likely to be called up prospect.
  9. I stand corrected.
  10. I agree, it sounds very strange. But I have seen the best closer in history turn into a crappy mopup guy. Mo is not very good when it isnt a save situation or a close game. Not saying 4 runs is a mopup duty, but still. His point sounds very dumb, but I have seen it with my own eyes too many times to completely discredit it. And it isnt easy to turn it on either.
  11. bringing in Donnelly would have been a bad move also. Right now, the only guys I'd have faith in vs the yankees in your middle relief are Okajima and Donnelly. Both will be available for tomorrow and if they were used today, they most likely wouldnt have been.
  12. I see where he is coming from, but you also have to look at the situation. Some closers dont have that killer mentality if it isnt a save situation. But in a 4 run game against NY, you have to. Cause 4 runs to the yankees is like 1 run to other teams. He smoked the first 2 hitters, but this yankee lineup is special. They are owning pitchers, good pitchers, closers even, without one of their best hitters. It really is special.
  13. Tonight is Wang's last rehab start. If everything goes well, he will return on Tuesday. Karstens is returning on Saturday. Mussina will return next Thursday vs Toronto or Friday vs the sox. And Matsui to return on Monday. The only injured player without a timetable is none other than American Idle, Carl Pavano.
  14. I agree. I am elated but annoyed right now. Like I said, to the point where Rasner was removed, our rotation and pen had had a nice series vs a great offense. I thought Torre could see Rasner grow into a reliable 5th starter but if he keeps handling him like he's made of glass, he will be nothing but a more durable Jaret Wright (in terms of injuries that is).
  15. like I said, bet the sox on Sunday, HUGE. We suck against new pitchers.
  16. btw, we lose both games if ARod makes an out. He has single handedly changed 2 games in their last atbat from sure defeat to awesome wins.
  17. George had his worst yr of his career right after that.
  18. our starter was fine today, Joe cut the cord way too early. Vizcaino spit the bit for the first time, it happens. Joe has no faith in any starter aside from Pettitte, Moose, and Wang. He showed it last night when Igawa was at 92 pitches and didnt go out for the 7th. He showed it in Oakland when Rasner had 0ER in 5.1IP. Torre has to see what he has here. Yeah, these guys throw a lot of pitches, but for christ sakes save your damn bullpen at some point. I thought Rasner could go 6. Yet Joe handed his pen 5 extra outs.
