  1. Pettitte is overstriding. Everything is up.
  2. sometimes I know there is a proper retort to what I write. I just make you do the leg work to figure it out. Tedious, I know.
  3. as they say, there are lies, damn lies, and statistics. If you have an agenda, you can find a stat to back you up regardless.
  4. well, this early, one bad start f***s up your stats. Lets just put it this way, aside from one game, he has been money thus far this season.
  5. here's what I have to say about all this KID MOJO!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fzDsGEPJ7WU&mode=related&search=
  6. wow, that kid is gonna have some serious problems. Wow.
  7. Ramirez is a soft tossin lefty who the sox are unfamiliar with. Dice K pitched well against the M's last time around. I expect a low scoring affair.
  8. Bard is being tattooed in A ball right now. If they wanted Bard over Buchholz or Bowden, the sox would be fools not to do it. And on another note, it is no fun having a team that is fantastic "when healthy". Because if you attach that monicker, then you know they must have a problem being healthy. You guys can afford the gamble since you have a few horses in the stable already. If Harden needs to Clemens a yr (miss half) then you wont be hurt so much. If we gave up some minor league horses and he missed a yr, we'd be devastated.
  9. the only reason why the yankees are even being considered in his HOF plaque is because of his championships. If he comes back this yr and wins a 3rd in pinstripes, I think he'd be able to sway them. I still think he holds a grudge against Boston, even with the new ownership and is including them so he can raise the price.
  10. 3.00 ERA in 30IP thus far isnt good?
  11. and so may the HOF. Something Clemens needs to think about. He has said before that he does not want to go in as a red sox. If he goes back to the sox, he seals the big B on his bust in Cooperstown. If he doesnt, then it becomes a little more murky.
  12. and the fact that Clemens will be going back to a familiar place. Torre, Jeter, Giambi, Mariano, Pettitte, Mussina, and Posada were all there with Clemens through the times he was there. As well as management who treated him like a rock star. The sox have Wake, who he played with during 95 and 96. Thats it.
  13. Pettitte hasnt been anything special? Cmon now. Wang hasnt been "slapped around" at all. Moose has been hurt, but he returns today. Hughes is the real deal. Seriously BSN, give some credit where credit is due. When healthy, and with a healthy Clemens and Hughes, this rotation is very very good. Without those 2, it is very top-heavy with Wang, Moose, and Pettitte being the stalwarts and you cross your fingers for 4 and 5.
  14. Bailey is rougher around the edges than Hughes is. Bailey can get the ball into triple digits and has a world class bender, but his location is mediocre to say the least and he has a very large dropoff from his 2nd to his 3rd pitch. Hughes doesnt throw nearly as hard as Bailey as he mostly sits in the 92 range and can dial it up to 95-96 on his best days. But he has a better curveball, a better changeup and MUCH better control. Hughes is more ready right now (once he is healthy) but the ceiling for Bailey is very high as it is and if he gains some control as he ages, he could be good for a long time. As for Lester, I have heard ace be used in the scouting reports, but at the same time, his control is in need of some serious improvement. He has an advantage that he is a lefty with plus stuff, but I dont see him as an ace. More like a middle of the rotation to a #2 level guy.
  15. I dont think it is the command issue, it is the stamina issue. The guy is dominating right now, but how mch does he have in his tank? How much can you seriously expect from a kid who just championed cancer a few months ago? The kid needs to be broken down and built up again. Major lower body conditioning then heavy arm conditioning and then finally batters. This is a setback that could potentially be serious and if it is, then the sox did this the wrong way. If it isnt (and I am hoping it isnt) then they should consider themselves lucky they didnt lose the kid to TJ and slow down the rehab. Even wth Paps dominating, this kid is the face of the minor league reclamation project. AND, he is now a hero to millions with cancer as he is able to beat it and step onto a Fenway mound after, which will happen. But in this instance, you do not put the teams interest above the players health, and rushing him is a poor idea. Hopefully it is a mild tendonitis and they can back off the throwing program and set his ETA for a Sept callup.
  16. he has a ton of potential but continues to be hit with injuries.
  17. he'll need insurance runs. He is pretty terrible. But he is also useful. A guy who you can burn when you have mopup duty.
  18. Snyder and Pineiro would be battling for last place on the "guys who should close" list.
  19. not likely. The guy is now up there with Proctor and Vizcaino for appearances.
