  1. I cannot wait for this month to be over. Enjoy the game guys.
  2. Lowrie puts up good at bats up there. He isnt too patient and that needs to be exploited, but the swing is nice.
  3. Youk does this all the time. Starts out hot then fizzles after the break.
  4. he had 3 starts last yr. You cannot tell me that you have pitch fx from the minors. And it isnt the fact that he isnt getting the close call. Its the fact that he isnt even close.
  5. He's been throwing the slider more than the changeup and I agree, he needs to use the changeup more. I like his changeup. Whether it isnt getting called or he doesnt have confidence in it or whatever, it needs to be thrown.
  6. Kennedy needs to be demoted IMO. Much different case than Hughes. Hughes needs to learn the league IMO. He needs to learn which guys he can go right after and which guys his stuff forces him to be careful with. He needs to learn that a 1 pitch groundout is more effective than a 8 pitch strikeout. Stuff like that. The Baltimore game just proved the point further. Too many deep counts against a Baltimore lineup that isnt very good. For Kennedy, he is not a power type pitcher. He wont consistently throw the ball 92+ like Hughes can (and did in Baltimore). He doesnt have the Hughes curveball either. he's a finesse, location guy and this is what made him so effective in his 5 level jump last yr. 13BB in 14IP shows that something is wrong. Is it mechanical? Is he hurt? Has he lost his confidence? Whatever it is, I'd ship him to AAA and see how he fares. Right now, Igawa is throwing better.
  7. lets just say, theoretically that MDC reverts to being a hit or miss kind of guy and Timlin gets DFA'd. Do you think Masterson is a potential candidate for middle inning duty near the end of the season? I think he'd be quite potent there. You do know that if the Twins dealt with the sox for Johan that Masterson would have been the heir apparent to Nathan and he'd have been on the block.
  8. I think the Cowboys might have the edge in this one, but the Patriots do have some firepower. Better keep an eye on Owens.
  9. betemit actually didnt have pink eye. He had a corneal ulcer which is painful and causes you to see poorly. It also predisposes you to bad eye infections. So him being out is not BS, its a true disease That being said, we gave up our most reliable middle inning pitcher for Betemit, so we'd better get a reliable middle inning pitcher in return. How bout Marte? Otherwise, I say we keep him, let him get a few games in AAA then try to find him some ABs between benching Giambi and giving Jeter some time off.
  10. fact is, he threw 91-94 today, had a ton of break on the curve and his slider looked good. His problem was that the curve broke so well he couldnt get it over the plate. Come the 6th as he approached 90 pitches, his fastball started creeping over the plate and they hit him. It didnt help that Hawkins just got pounded on arrival.
  11. 1ER through 5IP. He imploded in the 6th.
  12. the franchise looked good today. Probably shouldnt have been brought out for the 6th. Too many deep counts early on.
  13. no. You cannot create your own save op BTW, Melkman with 3 homers already. he's starting to show that power
  14. someone needed to close the book on Mussina.
  15. If Alan Horne hadnt hurt himself, you might hear the clamoring.
  16. To be totally honest, I'd move Joba from bereavement to AAA and build up his innings now. Mussina looked f***in awful.
  17. Hagadone was removed from last nights game with a sore arm.
  18. I'm of the belief that nobody is totally clean, so therefore, I dont care.
  19. Montero is making his long season debut this yr in Class A Charleston. Through 12 games, he is hitting .353 11R 4 2B 2HR 12RBI .549SLG .926OPS. He has also gotten a game winning hit in 3 of the last 4 games. Kid's a beast. And that Charleston team is loaded.
