  1. And the sox are gonna win another WS. There needs to be another big time team in the AL. The Angels seem to only be able to beat us, the Rays arent gonna last in Boston and we are in need of a pretty big overhaul.
  2. Wang has been in the majors for 3+ seasons. 2 of those full seasons saw him throw 30+ games and right around 200IP. He was on pace for that when his foot broke on a base. A fluke thing. I think we can count on Wang to hit 200IP again this yr.
  3. I am excited about the prospects of having a 200IP starter in the rotation along with our otherwise dependable 200IP Taiwanese starter. Schilling, for once in his life, was right. The team that gets the most out of their SP will win the division. If we have 2 200IP guys, its a start. Here's to hoping we have 5. But dont think I am at all expecting an acelike performance. I am going into this thinking he's a 3.
  4. http://www.prosportsdaily.com/comments/derek-lowe-on-the-yankees-10-03-2008.html Lowe to NY is building media momentum
  5. He'd be a CFer for 09, then a LFer in '10. Put it this way, he's a better CFer than Damon is right now. Thats a plus.
  6. I am on your side with jeter's lack of range. But it obviously hasnt hindered Wang's career to this point. Wang was only the winningest pitcher since opening day 06 until he got hurt.
  7. http://www.nypost.com/seven/10032008/sports/yankees/no_talk_on_mclouth_trade__yet_131891.htm This would be very interesting. He's 26 right now, left handed and has shown significant improvement all 3 yrs he's been in the pros. He hit .276/.356/.497 this season with 26HR, 462B, 65BB, and 23SBs. The big knock on him is that he's an average to below average CFer, but a plus LFer. So, if there really is smoke here, I think a deal for McLouth gives us the 1 yr stopgap and he moves to LF once Damon and Matsui's contracts expire and AJax is ready.
  8. http://www.prosportsdaily.com/comments/five-yankees-who-probably-wont-be-back-10-01-2008.html This is a misleading article. It starts with the 5 guys who you can be pretty certain wont be back then they go into 5 guys who may or may not be back.
  9. Wang was in the midst of his best BAA, OBP and OPS against. His ERA was misleading. The only thing negative for Wang was his BB/9 rose a bit
  10. Wang doesnt seem to mind
  11. Pavano did that only twice in his life. Lowe has done it 5 of the last 7 yrs with the other two being 180 and 199.1. Point being, he's a reliable arm.
  12. I agree. Having a 2-3 of Wang and Lowe would be nice. We need a 1 though.
  13. He also had a 21-8 2.58ERA yr two yrs prior to that 5.47 season. I am not gonna even think he's still a sub 3ERA guy. Hell, I bet if he came to the ALE, he'd be in 4 range. But I like the idea of 200-220 injuries and the solid post season record.
  14. I liked the sox draft this yr. I think they overpaid for Kelley, but I like the depth of young talent they got. Kinda interesting to see so many HS picks from a team that seemed to favor college kids.
  15. StL found a way to deal Rolen because they took another injury prone 3b with a big contract. It is not like the sox to take on salary and not use it.
  16. I dont have a problem with Lowe. I just dont want him to be the lone addition to the pitching staff. Wang and Lowe would be a nice GB induction factory. This offseason is gonna be fun.
  17. He didnt hit 20 homers and he cannot play D with his injury. Thats like saying we should resign Giambi because he can hit .340 and 40 homers.
  18. Lowell has a career altering injury that will require reconstructive joint surgery. He's on yr 1 of a 4 yr deal at big salary and just had his worst yr in Boston. For those who said Matsui is untradeable, take a step back and think of this. Lowell is untradeable. The sox dont need Tex. They have a gold glove 1b who is putting up solid #s this yr.
  19. If only he could stay healthy. I will go on the record as saying I do not want Sheets. And if the yankees signed him, they better have a damn good long reliever in the pen ready to step into the rotation about 5-10 times a yr
  20. CC said he wouldnt revert to being a nibbler and that exactly what he did. Or was he just tired. He's been throwing on 3 days rest for what seems like a month now. Sveum appropriately shot the load to get there and now his horse is tired. He should have moved him to game 3.
  21. If we could move Matsui, have Posada catch and get a guy like Tex to man 1B full time, then I'd sign Manny any day of the week to be my DH. I think a lot of his antics are made worse when he's on the defensive side of the game and if you eliminate that altogether, then so be it. I also think that moving home to a bigger city will help him a bit. That being said, I have no doubt the Mets will throw a pile of money at him and depending on how much he likes defense, I think Manny will have a tough decision on his hands. But having a lineup with ARod, Tex, Manny would be ridiculous.
  22. Oblique injuries are no fun when your game relies on torquing your midsection 150 times (game + warmups). But if he was able to throw 67 full force pitches with no pain or residual soreness, then I dont see why he shouldnt start. Makes me wonder if he just spasmed and they were being extra cautious. Cause an oblique pull is one of those injuries you just cannot rest. Kinda like your back. Any movement involves the oblique being contracted and relaxed.
  23. Kennedy was more his suckitude. Hughes was more rehab and getting back to the 100 pitch mark.
