  1. Beckett was absolute s*** tonight. That oblique had to be bothering him
  2. that ball looked good off the bat
  3. I am sure Lester is faster than Ortiz
  4. The Brewers have given up
  5. Jeff Suppan is awful
  6. dominic hixon is looking like Plaxico right now. He is fast.
  7. The Giants offensive machine keeps on churning. When Manning actually locates his passes, he's one hell of a QB. Its the maddening inconsistency that drives Giants fans crazy.
  8. It depends. The sox did it with youth on the fly because they werent leaned upon. The rest of the team was veteran and the kids came up with as little pressure as they could have in Boston. I think the idea of holding down 4 slots with vets in the rotation and leaving that last spot for Joba or Hughes is a sound one. Starting the yr off with 2 slots dedicated to rookies isnt the best way to perform.
  9. I think that the media and Manny did enough damage to his rep that he needed to prove he was worth the trouble of giving a massive contract to. His career in LA thus far has shown that when he is happy, he can be ridiculous.
  10. Manny has been unreal this post season. He is starting to show teams that he can be worth 20 mil a season.
  11. http://www.nypost.com/seven/10052008/sports/yankees/yanks_need_to_have_patience_with_young_g_132152.htm I agree completely. A lot of these young guns come up and struggle off the bat. But a glance at the White Sox will show you what we need to mimic. Patience with the kids.
  12. mclouth is gonna cost a ton in a yr.
  13. Stanford isnt good, I agree. They arent terrible either. It isnt like we're playing Wofford or anything. The thing I like is that Clausen is seeing a lot of pressure, but is checking down appropriately and using his audibles well. That 48 yd TD pass was an audible. And he is now starting to use the middle of the field. Lets put it this way, as a Sophomore, Clausen is looking a hell of a lot better than Quinn did. I think his Jr yr will be ridiculous.
  14. Clausen looks awesome today.
  15. Clausen is learning, he looks really good right now
  16. I see what you are saying
  17. My point was that you would need to have a 6th starter just for Sheets and my second point was that he seems to wear down as the season goes on. Sounds logical to me. Listen, if Sheets were healthy, I'd be all about getting him. But he has proven time and time again that he wears down as the season progresses.
  18. Irish playing again. Nice INT in the red zone, now movin
  19. Sheets history 2008, 198IP, dominant in year, but misses stretch run and post season with a torn muscle 2007, 141IP, dominant in year, but misses significant time in July, August, and Sept as the Brewers sunk into mediocrity 2006, 106IP, pretty solid when playing, misses May, June and most of July, but finishes the yr strong in Sept as Brewers miss playoffs 2005, 156IP, dominant in yr, misses most of May and all of Sept 2004, 237IP, dominant, CY candidate 2003, 220IP, mediocre season with the 4.45ERA, marginal K rate and high BAA 2002, 216IP, mediocre season with the 4.15ERA and marginal K rate 2001, 151IP, mediocre season, missed most of August and Sept. See the point? He was a workhorse. 3 straight 200IP seasons, but since his CY candidate season, he hasnt put a full yr together. The only yr out of the past 4 that he was with the brewers for the entire stretch run was 2006. So me saying that he wont be around for the stretch is not BS. He's missed significant time late in the yr 3 of the last 4 seasons.
  20. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball..._bobby_a-1.html This is a win win for us. Offer arbitration and if he accepts, we have him on exactly what we want, a 1 yr deal with no NT clauses. If he declines and signs elsewhere we will get 2 picks.
  21. Brackman is pitching in the HWL and after a terrible first start, he settled down last night. 5IP 3H 0ER 1BB 5K with 2/3 of his pitches going for strikes.
