  1. Up 0-2 and you throw a FB down the middle. His stuff looks good, but his mental side is not a strong suit
  2. Also, I am not planning any parade. I do think we are the best team in the AL, but the Dodgers look to be world beaters. I just hope they get tripped up before the WS
  3. One of the millions of fans who’s patronage allows us to field a team!
  4. Whether Richards returns to being a good pitcher or not is immaterial of your offense
  5. Devers has the chops to be an excellent 1b. He has smooth hands and for a 1b, would have plus range. His issues seem mental mostly now and he should physically age out of 3b anyway.
  6. Jacked up about a few positives. The offense is gonna hit. Not worried about that. We kept a potent Jays lineup to 4ER in 19 innings with most of those innings coming from the pen sans Britton, Chapman and Wilson. Sanchez is hot again, so that helps. Lasagna looks incredible. Kluber looked really good all told. Even though we lost opening day, I think there have been some clear positives.
  7. I am talking about giving up the chance to re-sign him. If you assume he wouldnt have signed anyway, then it's already a win. If you assume the sox would have re-signed him, then you need more
  8. I have ZERO doubt that Bloom will build a top flight farm system. It may take a couple drafts and IFAs. Losing last year's draft beyond the first 5 rounds didnt help.
  9. Ah. Okay, that’s problematic then.
  10. Reports from the minors were very positive on his D. Did I miss something?
  11. Forgot that one. Okay, 3 major leaguers on their team
  12. I think he can. A lot of his injury woes were of his own doing (delaying TJS). He can be a good pitcher, but adding him to Fenway with a horrible defensive alignment won’t help him
  13. They’re a major league offense in name only. Beyond Santander and Mancini, nobody else on that team makes another team’s starting lineup, heck maybe not even another team
  14. Here’s the deal. If Verdugo cements himself as an all star OFer and Downs ends up being a regular, then the deal is neutral, IMO. If the Sox then spend the savings ($35 mil plus $16 mil from Price) and upgrade another spot then it was worth it. Having Betts and Price doesn’t make you a playoff team this year.
  15. In baseball, mediocrity is punished severely. Talent in the top 5 is way, way more separated than in any other sport.
  16. You experiment when you’re not expecting to win. The Sox have the makings of a good defense, but making the team good defensively will force some egos to check themselves. Move Dalbec to 3b. He’s got a cannon and is generally respected defensively Move Devers to 1b. Never an issue picking it. Issues are timidity, range and throws, something a 1b doesn’t have to worry about. Move Kike to CF. The guy has played well defensively as a CFer Keep Verdugo in RF. He played well out there in possibly the toughest RF in baseball. This does leave 2b open as a problem area, but better to have one slot that’s troublesome than a whole field’s worth.
  17. Dodgers haven’t had to pick and choose. They’re going to soon with Seager, Buehler and Bellinger getting on in arb. Friedman has kept the team financially flexible, but that’ll change if he tries to keep the band together
  18. Agree with this. Just surprised Cora chose a poor defensive alignment for game 1 and then pivoted for game 2
  19. Your farm is better but still in rough shape. This year’s draft and INTL will be enormous in building your farm back to respectability.
  20. We are 1-0 in his starts. We beat a projected playoff team. Pretty sure the Orioles are gonna finish last this year, that is unless the Sox finish behind them
  21. Unsung hero of yesterday is Jonny Lasagna. That guy is a beast as a reliever.
  22. Our defense did not help. But I am glad he showed what he showed. He’s gonna be an asset if we protect him
  23. Of course. But it’s expected with what he went through and I’ve told you all that
  24. When the rosy red glasses were on people here, I told you all that ERod is going to be susceptible to endurance issues. ERod didn’t have a surgery with a rehab plan. He had a heart infection that left him bed bound for 6 months. There’s no precedent here. I’m not surprised his arm is barking a bit. His lower half isn’t built up like it used to be. His core isn’t built up like it used to be.
