  1. He might be a middle of the order bat this yr per Dojji
  2. So he wasn't sitting in the 89-91 range when he came up? And he had more than one plus offspeed offering? Not sure where the bias is when I speak the truth
  3. is this your way of saying you were wrong? BTW, nice try changing the subject
  4. It's called reading. See the bolded parts, I figure the bigger words will help you. If he was fatigued, which both of us think he was, then so be it. If his stuff is as shown at the end of the yr, then he was overhyped.
  5. When Bowden and Buchholz were in the short season leagues, Bowden had more polish and the deeper arsenal. I liked Bowden at the time more than Buchholz. He has the raw tools, I will tell you that much. I am just not sure if his mechanical changes and his control necessitated him to drop some velocity or tighten up his breaking pitches. If his stuff doesnt change, then YAB is right.
  6. when Tazawa was signed, he was billed as a low to mid 90s FB guy with 2 plus pitches. When I saw him pitch, he was topping out in the 91-92 range while sitting 89-90 and only had one pitch to write home about, the curve. My thoughts are that he fatigued, but if that is really the kind of pitcher he is, then he was incredibly overhyped.
  7. Doubront is gonna get another yr of seasoning in the minors. I think he eventually moves to the pen sometime this yr and ends up in Boston Tazawa and Bowden took a step back upon coming to the bigs last yr. The sox might as well let them recoup their worth, cause right now, they arent worth much. I would consider them emergency depth, but both need to prove that they can maintain their velocity and location in AAA. Bowden scares me the most, since his stuff at the end of the yr was far inferior to where it was at the beginning
  8. This kid is good, I wanted him. But he didnt want to wait for Jeter to move off the position.
  9. Pretty much. He's 20 yrs old. Here's to hoping he lives a long and fruitful life. If he can play, then great. If he cannot, as long as he has his mind about him, he can always coach and hash out a life on the diamond.
  10. They made the playoffs once in recent memory and beat an all offense Yankee club in round one. That also was when CC was on your team. But he looks better in pinstripes. The Guardians are rebuilding again. They won't be relevant for another 3-4 yrs
  11. Jeter wont be the shortstop for long. This guy decided to pass up the opportunity to be the SS in Yankee Stadium for being on a team with absolutely no chance of doing anything. I can understand some of the lesser talented guys choosing a place like Toronto, but this kid truly would have been the heir apparent in NY at SS. Oh well. Movin on.
  12. I think Josh Beckett just had a change of heart due to this specific post
  13. The battle for who will get swept in the first round of the playoffs
  14. Right now, life without deficit should be first and foremost. His return to the diamond will be decided by how much needs to be removed. I will say this, a return to his prior skill level after brain surgery isn't likely. I hope he makes it
  15. Wow. If it's brainstem, then this procedure is more dangerous than initially proposed. I would assume it's superficial, because no neurosurgeon would cut deeply into the brainstem.
  16. He has probably had this for years. Plus, it sounds like he's having surgery in Phoenix. But the biggest reason to wait is to plan. There is usually a feeder vessel that you need to ligate or resect first to prevent intraoperative bleeding. And then you need to plan how deep and how far you are cutting. This guy especially needs a physician with as skilled a hand as possible because every mm cut is thousands of neurons that he wont get back. Planning is integral when it comes to these surgeries
  17. Bleeding is the biggest complication. The Brain is very sensitive to blood outside of the vascular space and will swell and die in areas where hemorrhage occurs. If he bleeds, he'll have a deficit for life, making baseball impossible. As it stands, depending on where the lesion is, he may not be able to play again anyway. Here is to hoping it is superficial, away from the motor or sensory strip and something he can live with. That being said, most patients status post brain resection have some measurable deficit, so I highly doubt he'll be the same as he was prior. This is more for his overall health than his baseball career. I hope he is on the baseball field soon. Never want to root against anyone with medical problems, especially brain issues
  18. nobody could have predicted this
  19. It is actually called an AVM, or an arteriovenous malformation. Think about it this way, it is a tangle of blood vessels that shouldnt be there. It can generate seizures or worse strokes or bleeds. Typically, they are treated with staged embolization of the feeder vessels and eventually resected, but if symptomatic, they need immediate resection. When I moonlight, I take care of a lot of patient's post-neurosurgery and a few patients with AVM resections. The entire prognosis is based upon... A. the location. As with anything, the location of the brain that you will resect will determine the deficit that the patient will have post-procedure B. The complications from the procedure. Sometimes they bleed in surgery or the wrong vessel gets embolized and you have a stroke Regardless, it is not a good thing for anyone to have, let alone a top notch athlete. Here is to hoping that he at the very least gets to live a full and long life, as this is not guaranteed with patients who have this disorder
  20. Without him, no trade gets done, Mitchell healthy or no
  21. I still think Beckham would be needed to get him.
  22. I am just leaving this alone for now seeing as I see a fight brewing and it just isnt worth it
