  1. I'm a Phillies fan, well was, well maybe, I don't know what I am right now (kind of a mid-life crisis for me in baseball). You could just imagine the pain. We thought things would change with Gillick becoming the GM, but that obviously isn't the case. I wonder what Gillick plans to do with Abreu's $13 million of freed up salary. You can't sign anyone with that these days. The worse part about this deal is that they threw in Lidle. They could have dangled Lidle until the last minute of the deadline and gotten something better in return. The picks we would have gotten would have been better than what the Yankees gave us. At least none of you were around for the Ruth trade. We are suffering a much similar pain. I rather Abreu be traded for nothign to the Red Sox, or even the Mets than the Yankees. I can't bare to see him in those terrible pinstripes. This is an all time low to be a Phillies fan.
  2. Hey Sox fans. I am obviously new to this board, and kind of new to the Red Sox. I have rooted for the Red Sox before, being an avid Yankee-hater, but now I think it is time I become a fan full-time. My old team which I am currently "separated from," the Phillies, cheated on me and broke my heart for the last time. With one of my favorite Phillie fixtures + Corey Lidle going to the Yankees for ABSOLUELY NOTHING IN RETURN AT ALL, maybe I should start looking at other baseball teams. I may have rooted for the Sox before, moreso just to see the Yankees and their fans suffer. Hopefully I could catch on over here, and this seems like a mature environment I could easily post in (much like the one I came from). Anyway, Death to the Yankees, long live the Sox.
