The Red Sox can't be thrilled that Wednesday is getaway day at Camden Yards. The Red Sox are 8-0 against the Orioles this season and hold a 13-game winning streak vs. Baltimore, dating back to Sept. 3, 2005.
They'll try to keep that streak going when veteran knuckleballer Tim Wakefield takes the mound against lefty Erik Bedard. The Red Sox have won Wakefield's last three starts, all of which have come with Doug Mirabelli, Wakefield's personal catcher, behind the plate.
The Boston bullpen continues to have a huge impact on the team's overall success.
"I said in April, and I said late in Spring Training, we've got a shutdown bullpen," said Red Sox ace Curt Schilling. "This is a bullpen where literally there's five guys, you can mix and match them from the sixth and seventh inning on, and they can throw up power numbers."
Jonathan Papelbon continues to be nearly unhittable as the closer. The rookie right-hander is 14-for-14 in save opportunities.
"What can you say about Pap other than he's been phenomenal," Schilling said.
